Do I need curtains ?

I have a decent sized bedroom, 8 feet ceiling and a 6ft x 6ft window with some blinds. do i need any curtains with it, if yes, what color rod and fabric etc? I am not much of a fan of traditional or formal look. Also, how does one decide grommet vs rod vs tab ?

I think we need to see some pics of the space with some light

Agree with others that drapery panels would be a nice addition. You really could go in any direction color-wise since everything in that room is beige or brown. What colors do you like? I'd actually start with finding some nice bedding in colors you like, then get a coordinating pattern for the drapery.

So the bed is dary grey, furniture is mahogany and lamps are bronze. a mirror and the fan are pewter colored.

I need to block out some light but not blackout curtains, they will mostly remain closed.

    1) what color curtain rod should i use. I ordered a bronze and a stainless steel one.

    2) what color curtain panels would look best? and what material?

    3) Should i use 2 or 4 panels (window is 72 inches) If 4, do they have to be the same type, or 2 dark and 2 light, patterned vs non patterned?

    4) curtain top: grommets etc, what goes with more transitional/modern design?

    5) Always up for art recommendations too :)

    Thanks all for the advice!

Curtains are optional and in this case, would be primarily for looks and perhaps a bit of sound dampening. You already have privacy and light control from the blinds.

No. There's not much room between the bed and the wall as it is now, and curtains will just make it seem narrower (even by only 4-6 inches, it's a big difference in a narrow space).

I think there's enough room for curtains. Your rod shouldn't have more than a 4" projection. I'd use the bronze and extend it to about 94" for stackback. I don't see any other colors in your room, I'd just stick to a neutral color, maybe off white or linen color. If they're readymades, you may not have a large choice of fabric. Cotton, linen or a blend is always nice. You'd also need 2 panels each side for that width window. One will look too skimpy and they should all be the same. Solid would be best since patterns may not match. If you can get them lined, would be good.

Not a big fan of grommets, but would probably be the most modern or tab back. That's about all you can find in readymades these day.
