Because in your pictures the foliage including the scoop shaped newest leaves looks quite like that of a violet (Viola) and not like the more rounded (no point on the end), more coarsely toothed and noticeably hairy leaves of the saxifrage.

I'm also dubious about the Saxifrage id. Compare with images of Viola coreana. Cyclamen Leaved Violet.

It makes a great ground cover in my shade garden. I have had it there for years & never have to do much to it at all.

The flowers would be very obviously different if the voila.........

The saxifrage also differs in producing hairy leaf stalks that are round in cross section:

Rather than the winged-looking ones of the violet asked about on this thread.

The flowers on mine look just like the photos of the Strawberry Geranium, not the Violet. I'll take photos when they bloom again. So appreciative of all the help.
