I actually love the green veining. Of course the "supposed to be" is beautiful as well. That's one gorgeous clematis! I can't wait to see the update when it's in full bloom.

The multi ones are now fully open, and mostly single ones just started opening.

I treat this cultivar as type 3 and hard-prune late winter (I've seen some websites listing it as type 2 tho), but it starts blooming much earlier than my other type 3, just a few weeks after type 1 finishes (I'm in 7a).

Wow! Sj is my one of favorite clems for the shape and color of bloom. So is this double form sold as such or did you just luck out?

By total luck... both double/multi and single flowers are from the same single Sj plant, and the first few blooms of the season may turn out double like those in the photos above, depending... probably on early spring temps etc., I think. So may or may not happen next season.

(I love Sj too ;-)).
