I too am in Wisconsin and I purchased some grapes and a pear from Jung's. This spring is cold and wet. We are about 12 days behind the normal schedule for crab apples blooming due to the lack of accumulated heat units so far. My grapes budded but stopped. The pear pushed a few tiny leaves.

I am not surprised yours has not yet leafed out since you are farther north than I am. Scratch the bark and if the cabium beneath is still green then give it time. If the cambium color is light brown or a sickly sea green color then you might have a problem.

Be patient. I am assuming you planted bare-root from Jung's and not a potted tree?

Makes sense that we are behind. Update - it has budded out :-) But, boy, it was worriesome there for a while. Yes, we bought a bare-root plum and peach this year. Last year, we bought a seedless grape - somerset. Good luck and thanks for you help!

In the past, I have tried to establish a pair of blue plums, but to no avail. Location: Waukesha Co. The young sprouts did develop into young trees at about 1.5 inch dia. trunk. One year, a fungus or other tree disease invaded. The leaves did not fully develop and the tree died. It was an experiment. It seems that blue plums are susceptible to diseases common to this location and with the added stress of our winters, those are not successful here.

You mentioned a peach. Wisconsin is too far north for peaches. Peaches have been grown in commercial orchards as far north as the line from St, Louis, MO, to Vincennes, IN and that is about the northern limit for peaches.

I live in Northern Waukesha county. I have raised peaches successfully the past 17 years. Not all years are successful. Sometimes the flower buds freeze off so no peaches that year. Sometimes my peach trees grow a few years then get wiped out if we have a bad winter. However most years I do get peaches. 2020 was a fabulous year for peaches. We got 3 bushels.

Not all peach varieties are good in WI. Stick with the hardiest ones for best results (Reliance, Contender, Veteran, Polly). The closer you are to lake Michigan the better. If planting in a city lot is better than a large yard way out in the country (warmer in the city). I now grow peaches in Washington county in an open farm field and the results the past few years have been good. Global warming?

Commercial peaches in Wisconsin? Apple Holler orchard along I-94 south of Racine offers peaches. So does Rims Edge orchard in Colgate, WI. Rims Edge had a beautiful peach crop this year. No Wisconsin is not prime peach growing area, but it is possible especially in SE WI and with the right variety.
