Too much depends on the rest of the style of your home, and the style of door selected. Probably NOT worth the effort. Especially if a fifties, sixties, mid century type. Post a few photos. Just know that people buy homes for location, number of bed/bath, schools, and the RIGHT PRICE. The right price is up to the buyer.........less so to you and your realtor, who many times will tell you what you want to hear. Only costing you time and a subsequent markdown. Clean it, prune it, make it smell nice and fresh, check your curb appeal. Wash the windows!!!!, turn on all the lights..etc.

Why would you replace hollow core doors with more hollow core doors when the realtor suggested solid core doors? In any event, I agree with functionthelook and Jan, unless there are holes or they look really shabby (in which case you could just patch and paint for far less than replacing) leave them alone and let the buyer decide what they want to do. If that is the only “issue” your realtor found, you’re doing well. While I agree that solid doors are much nicer, no one decided not to buy a house because it had hollow core doors. Make sure everything is in good condition and sparkling clean and forget about the doors.

Ask your realtor if you will recoup the $1,000.00 in the sale. LOL, I doubt it.

If someone hates the doors, they probably hate the woodwork, as well. Let them walk away. If someone loves the house, location and its fair price, the doors and woodwork won’t make a bit of difference.

Thank you for this advice. After reading through them all and thinking about it, replacing doors does seem a waste of time, and we probably wouldn’t recoup the cost.

Another question though.... should we replace the hardware on the doors? They are currently brass. All other light fixtures, light switches, sinks, cabinets handles, etc have been replaced with brushed nickel. Thanks!

My advice is leave it all alone. Let some new owner do their thing at THEIR expense.
