My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.

Entry Door Brand Bayer

Hello all ! I live in Minnesota where we get -30F in the winter. Need to change my front door to have Better insulation. Seller wants me to go with a MN brand called Bayer even though he works with Andersen and Marvin. Does someone know this Bayer brand? Which material would be the nicest/durable one to choose? Fiberglass, Aluminum, Steel? I would like a modern/Scandinavian look but most important is to keep the extreme Minnesota elements out of the house! Thank You so much in advance for your advice!

    TT is more of a crap-shoot. They pioneered fiberglass doors for the most part and their higher end products are well made. The trick is that they don't sell/ship the door assembly fully finished. It goes to a distributor/finisher that completes the assembly, does cut-downs, paints/stains, and then warranty's that. If you find a great one then you are in good shape. There are two in my area and both have had major QC issues in my experience, so I stay away.

    One time we ordered a door with a cut-down on the height, and rather than using an appropriate saw/blade to get a clean cut, it was so jagged that it looked like they had a German Shepard chew off the 1" needed. They then proceeded to stain over that.... Because of that (3rd party finishing) its hard to get a good gauge on the quality from one market to the next.
