I'd be thrilled to see something like this in a seedling. Call it 'misted' or 'fogged' it's in essence a form of variegation, just not in the usual pattern we see.

Any clue as to what the pod parent may have been?

I wouldn't hesitate to not only hang on to it but nurture it and see how it develops over the next 3 or 4 years. And give it a garden name, like "Misty Mystery" or 'Haven't the Foggiest".....

Thanks, guys! I'm glad it's ok. I've never seen an all misted hosta, and it wasn't variegated last year, just a plain light green.

I don't have a clue who the parents were - it was in the BIG hosta bed, and has been in the "O.P. seedlings" section for a year or two, so I don't even know what it was near. There are several streakers in the big bed, maybe one of them self seeded.

I belong to three clubs and all of them constantly ask for donated plants. I've started saving the best looking seedlings and donating most of them to the local clubs, plainly marked as open pollinated. Some of their customers just want a hosta and don't care about names.

This one looks like a keeper. I love the names Pieter suggested, but I might call it Her Grace in honor of our cat Gracie, who died in February. She's buried in the hosta bed, and I've been looking for a suitable hosta to plant over her.
