I'd advise caution. These do have chamfered edges to mimic a door threshold with elevation change. But champers are only effective when rather expected ( ie a doorway / 4" wall depth ) Even those transitions need to be quite shallow in height or you trip.. The just over an inch chamfers on these due to their small sink size still make them a tripping hazard. Get a very strong contrast to your floor.

Agree with above comments. Also, why are you buying these mats? I would imagine it is for function? Looking at aesthetic part of the equation, even though they are quality mats, these will have a downside aesthetically, in my opinion.

You might be surprised I am saying this, but I would buy a longer runner. A small mat, for example, in front of a kitchen sink always looks dinky.

Would you consider another brand? Could we please see a photo of your kitchen? thanks.

I thought this was a great idea for infront of my stove where I spend a lot of time but I also have dogs and the mat acted like a dog hair magnet so into the secongd hand store it went. Up until then I never liked mats in the kitchen IMO just one more thing to trip over and to clean.

I use two of these mats on my tile kitchen floor. One in front of the sink and one in front of the stove. We've never had a tripping problem or cleaning problem. They help the stress on your back and feet when standing on hard surfaces. Love them! For those of you who want your kitchen to function, go for it. For those of you who don't cook and want a showplace, pick something else.

It's not an either/or proposition. I find these types of mats ugly. Your mileage may vary, but it's ridiculous to suggest that those who choose a beautiful runner instead of padded stress mats don't cook, and only "want a showplace."
