it is more dark pink or fuscia than the purple of photo

the closest I can find is some photos Ernest Markham though pinker rather than red and very large blooms when open, and blooming in May like an early large flower variety

It isn’t one that I recognize. If you know its source and can take or send the photo to them to see if they recognize it from their list of plants, you might get an ID.

Got it at Canadian tire or Home Depot. But it is likely from clearview who supply a lot of clematis around here. Clematis ‘Dorothy Toliver’ (syn. ‘Dorothy Tolver’) (Jonathan Gooch 1987) – A fairly recent English introduction which resulted as a cross between ‘Niobe’ and ‘Vyvyan Pennel’. It bears large 6″-wide flowers of a rich mauve-pink in late spring and repeats in August- September. The blooms are occasionally semi-double. Grows 8-12′ high. Pruning group B. Hardy to zone 4.
