Estate sale find.

Estate sale find this past weekend. Wasn't part of the sale but I asked and it is mine now.

Whatever it is I'm liking it...a lot.

Wow! What a find-lucky you. I never seem to come across anything so marvelous at estate or yard sales. That is one lovely plant! Enjoy.

So not just a yard sale, an estate sale. How very fancy of you, gardencool. ;-) I also thought GE when I saw it, but whatever it is, it's gorgeous. Great find!

    Golden Meadows perhaps.

whatever it is... it could use a better siting ... if it fits perfect this year ... then it will be jammed in there next year ... better to move it now.. than wait.. imo..

It looks similar to my two-year-old Dream Weaver.

I bought a hosta at an estate sale about 3 years ago. No idea what it is. I have a label on it that says "Hosta - Estate Sale". Yours is far prettier!

PERFECTLY sited, Ken. Based on experience I have VERY low expectations for Great Expectations. IF it doubled in size in 5-10 years would greatly exceed my expectations. My hope with GE is it doesn't get smaller! But then I like 'jammin'!

    >> We're jammin', we're jammin', we're jammin', we're jammin'
    We're jammin', we're jammin', we're jammin', we're jammin'
Hope you like jammin', too. << Thanks to Bob Marley. (hope that song doesn't stick in my head the rest of the day!)

Wow, beautiful. For what it is worth, my Hans seems a little whiter (could be location). I am leaning toward Andrew. It's a keeper.

    That is a great find!

It does have the coloring of GE. But GE doesn't usually have the distinct wave in the leaves or the twist in the leaf tip as I can see in your picture. When I saw it, I also thought Golden Meadows. I don't have a Lionheart, Andrew or large enough Hans to say if it may be one of those. You will know this year whether it is Golden Meadows because the coloring darkens as the season progresses and it looks very different by the end of the season.

I really appreciate the responses. So far thanks to the responses I have it narrowed down to 4 potentials: GE, Andrew, Golden Meadows, and Hans. I am not eliminating any of those 4 choices but am leaning toward GE. GE is more common and sold widely including big box stores. A little background on the estate owner whom I met: she is in her 90's and no longer able to take care of her garden or house and always using a walker now (still driving though). She was an avid gardener but NOT a hostaphile. She had very few hostas. It would be more likely that she would have a more common hosta! I've been on these hosta ID hunts before, going around and around like a dog chasing its tail. Before driving myself crazy I pick an ID and stick with it until evidence proves otherwise keeping in mind other possibilities.

I hope it is not GE as I have low expectations of GE.

Looks tall for Golden Meadows. Perhaps just the perspective? Almost looks like a really light Regalia.

My Golden Meadows is tall like that but the center is not as light - but as others have pointed out, you will know soon enough if it is GM. It looks more like Andrew to me but my Andrew is not as tall. What ever it is, you got a great deal but it is stunning!

it is stunning - great deal! I have Andrew and the colouring looks right but mine is not that tall. No need to worry about space if it is Andrew - a very slow grower for me. My Golden Meadows has the height your does but I don't think it is as light in the center - but as others have pointed out - if it doesn't greens up in the middle, it isn't GM.

Don't cross GE off the list. Mine is slow growing ( Just like Houzz downloading) but after a few years since 2012 it has actually grown . Being a sport of Elegans it should get big and a plus is it is resistant to slugs All things great take time

    2014

It is up to 9 shoots now and likes it under the weeping willow in the shade and doing quite nicely

@Almost Uuuuuu very nice hostas. Especially GE. I had it twice 2005 & 2015, but not now. Lasted a few years each time. darn

Hmmmmm, whadaya mean "Amost" ???? Looks pretty "MostHooked" to me. :o

pandora. ha ha ha I have been getting into trouble over my almosthooked name since I joined this site in 2011 or 2012 and kind of got hooked as you can well tell. I never thought I would ever have an addiction but I suppose some is better then others too. I also seem top collect yarns/wools and make afghans. I think I have enough to make at least 10 plus more but winter projects

Definitely reminds me of Andrew. Not sure about the colour though...my Andrew is quite blue.

Connie, my Andrew is quite blue too.
