Tiny worm castings in bermuda. I mean really tiny.

I have a patch of Princess 77 Bermuda in my rose garden that has never performed. The color is not good, the density is sparse, it's dry looking. It's well cared for. Interestingly, I have a couple of expansion joints across my driveway that the 77 has invaded, and it's beautifully dense and has nice color. I have to kill it 2-3 times a year, but it springs back!

Now for the castings in the soil. They look for all the world like micro sized worm castings, so small they are almost powdery. Could this be a pest that's feeding on the roots and harming my bermuda grass? Or is it just super-small earthworms? I live 60 miles from the Gulf coast.

Many thanks,,,
