Oly, we got this system about two years ago & I had to give in to having both the upper units on the walls & a lower unit like your photo in our living room. They honestly don't bother me & they are quiet. The only quarrel we have with them is that we can only cool our bedrooms upstairs to 67 at night. We also live in the PNW & I am trying to enjoy our back patio now when we have nice days in case we get those awful fires again with that horrendous smoke! We've had house guests during the last two summers & it was awful for everyone. Good luck with your decision.

• I should have mentioned, Oly, that the lower wall unit in our living room is kind of hidden by a chair angled in front of it. It's SO much better than our old AC Unit that we got several years ago. I took a photo just now for you but can't figure out how to post it here...sorry

Not as common, but some manufacturers make a ceiling unit that recesses between the joists. Home Depot shows 6 ceiling mounts to 169 wall-mount models.

Thanks, cawaps, Mitsubishi has that also, but it's way more expensive to install. Since I don't anticipate ever even turning this on unless we have another smoky summer, and it's plenty expensive already, I decided to skip that option.

Why won't the unit cool your bedroom as cool as you want? Is there a unit actually in your bedroom or are the living room units (you have 2 in the living room?) trying to cool the whole house?
