I was gifted my first Meyer Lemon tree in December. I live in zone 7a, so my tree stayed inside until the outdoor temperature reached the same temperature as my house. I struggled with mites and gnats soon after potting the tree in January. The initial potting soil mixture was created by a garden center at a local co op. I later changed the soil in an effort to rid my house of gnats and used a spray for the mites. The tree held on until I moved it outside on my full sun deck. I adjusted the soil (again) in an effort to make sure it was draining well. I also added fertilizer. The current soil is a mixture of potting soil, bark mulch and sand. The tree finally started growing new leaves and has blooms ready to open up any day. A few days ago, I noticed all the foliage on a lower branch was yellowing. I have since lost four or five leaves and a few blooms from that branch. The rest of the tree looks fine. I have barely watered it since it's been outside and our rain has been scarce lately. We had one week where we received a few days of rain but I pulled it under the soffit to avoid being drenched. I could use some help troubleshooting the problem. Still don't have the soil mixture correct and it's probably root rot? Nutrient deficiency? Inconsistent watering?
