New Plant ID Help

I'd bought this plant from a garage sale today and I have no idea what it is. I've never kept a leafy plant before and I only have experience in caring for cacti, succulents, carnivorous plants, and air plants, so any advise or instruction would be very helpful!

Probably a Chinese evergreen (Aglaonema). Otherwise a species of Dieffenbachia.

Definitely a Chinese Evergreen, there are about 3 common varieties. It's a older plant that's gotten very leggey, that happens. You can cut the stalks off, leave about 3 inches and you will get new growth tips, maybe even 3-4 on each stalk. Spring is the best time to do it. If you're afraid just try it on one of the stalks, you will probably see new growth tips in about 3 weeks. It really will make it look so much better.
