Best induction cooktop with knobs

Does anyone own an induction cooktop with knobs that they would highly recommend? Very interested in the Bluestar 36" with knobs but can't find a single review anywhere (of either the knob or touch-screen model) and no appliance dealers near me seem to have them in their showroom.

The Bluestar induction has only been available recently, so not many are out there yet. I have a Wolf 36" now, but when replacement time comes I will get a Bluestar based on the success I've had with the wall oven. The Wolf is fine except for the controls. Any water, spills, or wet hands on the touch screen and I have to fiddle around to get the settings back because they almost always go away.

I have a Gagg and if you get the Vario version you can have knobs installed into the fascia of the cabinet (I didn't go this route- I like the touch screen and sleek look of no knobs). That is a super high end application and really gorgeous and total overkill, but thought I would let you know just in case.

Rita / Bring Back Sophie 4 Real - In my opinion, the touchscreen would be fine if it was remote from the cooking surface. The problem is that it's on the surface and and liquid starts the controls blinking. (Not a problem if you never spill or never have wet hands). If it was affixed to the front of the hood, that would be great.

wdccruise - My experience with Frigidaire appliances has been not so good. There is a reason they are cheap.

Jerry Jorgenson - Which model Frigidaire induction cooktop did you own? What year did you buy it?

wdccruise - I didn't say cooktop, I said appliances. The most recent being a refrigerator that I had to replace after two years. Fifty years ago Frigidaire built quality appliances, now they are built just enough to get through warranty.

Jerry Jorgenson - This is hardly unique to Frigidaire. The few manufacturers left live by that same philosophy. My personal bias is against Samsung. Everything I have ever purchased from them has failed in short order. Luck of the draw I guess. My Frigidaire cook top has been very reliable and I suspect at some point it will fail just as every modern appliance seems to do nowadays. Most appliance have a 1 year warranty and even when they stand behind it, service can be iffy no matter the manufacturer. After that year they have no legal obligation to you. We all would love it they would step up and fix their crappy appliances, however they are under no obligation to do so.

Q: What do refrigerators and induction cooktops have in common?

A: They both run on electricity.

Q: Why don't you want to get a dog?

A: I don't like cats and they both have four legs.

kevinande - Does the bridge function work well on your Frigidaire and do you find the number of settings sufficient (looks like there are 10 heat levels) for achieving good temperature control?

There are 17 settings. Lo, half steps from 1.5 through 9 and Hi/Boost. I have only used the bridge function maybe three times. The only drawback if you want to call it that is that. Since the coils are round below the surface and do not extend from end to end of the bridge surface there tends to be a "cooler" spot in the middle of my cast iron griddle. I have learned to compensate for it, just worthy of mention. Beyond that it does work well. The knob that controls the bridge function is combined into the function of the lower left hob. One direction controls the single hob and the other the bridge. A little weird, just took some getting used to.

Not to hijack this thread but @Jerry Jorgenson, I had the exact same conversation with the owner of the local appliance store. I said I would be staying away from Frigidaire because of issues with my 36 in French door Frigidaire refrigerator, purchased 2015. Mibad for not contacting Loews within the warranty period but it never worked well and I asked their service to come see why. It turns out that for a period of a few years they did not put enough insulation into that model and there is no fix for it. They said they wouldn't take my money to even come out and look at it as they had sent back hundreds of them and Frigidaire eventually stopped accepting them. The repairman did look at it when he came out to fix my other POS Maytag frig, checked the serial number and said that mine was one of the bad ones. So I wonder if you have the same issue.

waverly6 - That wasn't my issue, I got rid of it due to multiple problems. The quality of one product and how they take care of it, says a lot about how the company cares for its customers.
