My Santa Teresa, Genoa, and Eureka lemons are all pretty easy going trees thus far

Meyers are junk for indoor/outdoor growing. They are only good in ground. My in ground New Zealand lemonade tree is growing more than 1 fruit this year. My potted NZL's are finicky. It is very hard to grow citrus when it has to come inside for more than 2 months in the cold season.

I would recommend the Bearss, Lisbon, or Genoa. Bearss is very vigorous once things warm up and the cold sensitivity isn’t an issue if you have to bring it inside anyway. I haven‘t grown the other two but both are more dense than the Eureka and have reputations for toughness.

Pac, I agree with you on the Bearss for sure.

I must have a dwarf Meyer's, it never really grows that vigorously but it does produce and I don't find it particularly difficult despite their reputation.

I would say LISBON lemons and Eurekas are much more vigorous..., but LARGE too, so you do need the space! I would say my favorite is definintity the Lisbon (a true lemon that is very vigorous). My Eureka is shy to fruit.

I highly recommend Ponderosa Lemon. I'm not a big fan of Meyers either....

I don’t have a problem with all citrus I am growing, any of them. My citrus jungle is doing pretty decent, actually too good, can’t complain.

This little guy always loaded, have a second one same way but bigger, this one I just prune heavily and repotted in a smaller por, is taken of again.

In my Zone5, I would say the Eureka, Ponderosa, although the ponderosa does suffer a bit, but always comes through, and the Bears . I love these three for ease!

And for whatever reason, I have the best success with the supposedly more tropical limes (mostly Bears/Persian). that have to overwinter in a rather CHILLY garage. I don't mind as I love mojitos!

I have many lemons and the ones that are the most trouble free and good growers are the ST, Villafranca, Genoa, and Lisbon. I also love my Meyer lemon trees, which produce many lemons. So far, my ST is the biggest and widest...quite a prolific and unmanageable tree, but I love her.

my beef with the meyer, even though I've gotten fruit, is its always wanting something special, or attracting bugs, or dropping leaves compared to the others in the group that get the same treatment. In other words fussy. Right now its sitting outdoors doing nothing, which it was doing under lights. It just started getting citrsy weatherwise up here, tons of rain. I hope some real heat wakes it up. We always have wet springs here, so my put outside dates has to be May 7th onwards from now on, not April 15th. Everything stalled.

bklyn, my oldest meyer isn't doing anything either. Time for some fish emulsion. lol.

How about productivity everyone? My santa teresa is so care free and won’t stop growing but it has not flower yet. My Meyer lemon is such a fuzzy little one. It always drops half of its leaves when it first comes indoor but it gives me a lot of fruits. Is Bearss lemon more productive than a regular Eureka?
