We recently installed smartside and have a couple boards that are ”popping out” a bit which appears to be what’s happening in your first photo. I am told this is due to imperfections in the framing (it’s a 60s ranch) and the fix is to simply ”pin nail” it down.

All seams and nail holes should be caulked.

The bottom photo looks nice to me.

I see what you are saying now.. I absolutely do not think anyone would notice that.

I do have a question, in the 2nd photo with your green circle, are there a bunch of spots with paint chipped off? I would absolutely not be ok with that ...

That butt seam should be caulked. Also hope they flashed behind it there and they should have dabbed caulk over the right nail and painted over both nails. A little sloppy if you ask me. And is it so hard to line up nails when face nailing?!

How do u like your siding now? Is it holding up alright?
