Do these accent table go with the bed?

I order these accent chest from wayfair and the color is completely off. I didnt want to go matchy matchy with the furniture. The picture showed the color a more lighter white color but now it's a yellowish ivory cream color and I honestly do not know. I wanted to go with a French glam transitional look without all the glam. Pur curtains will be arriving .Monday along with our duvet cover set and accent pillows. I feel this accent piece just really make the room to traditional for my liking. I'm thinking about replacing them for something more whiter and nice looking.

I think black shades would be pretty, especially if you can find the kind with metallic insides.

Think of the dust on those black shades tho, it might be as bad as I have here in California. Too much work. Your nightstands are very pretty and I hope you find art that speaks to you. Wayfare has art.

The night tables look nice. I would hang curtains before deciding on artwork, so you see exactly what space you're working with. You don't want to over crowd the curtains and bed with the art. That said, I like the birds Ellen posted. They are visually light and airy, so it won't feel like you are blocking part of them with the lamps. They are also a tad abstract, and will play nicely with all the glam you have going on now.

Keep the light shades. Should you wish to add color in the future, then look for colored shades at that time. There is nothing wrong with your current shades as your room has white trim. Put that $ toward a prettier ceiling fan.

Perhaps you are wishing to add interest to the nightstands? Do this by styling or staging the nightstands- a photo frame, a vase, some books, , a small clock.... Shop your home for existing items... If you choose to remove a book jacket because the hardcover book is the perfect gray shade, then be sure to keep it somewhere safe. (If you need hardcover books, know that you can find them at the Dollar Tree stores. I saw tons of HRC's What Happened at the DT store LOL.) This link discusses ideas for styling the nightstands. https://ablissfulnest.com/how-to-style-your-nightstand/

Hey Ellen, I have a dog so I have to dust and vacuum everyday lol. it wont be a issue if I do go with black shades. I am also hoping I really find some art ideas for behind these lamps.

    Hi Allison,

Thanks for your response. I curtains are pretty plain up above. They are more of a linen sliver color. So I know whatever I put up wouldn't clash with the art given how suddle its.

    Hey DK,

We may be moving next summer so I may not even change out the light fixture or put any more money into this newly built home (oct 2018) . I am more than likely will work around what I have. I guess with all the neutral colors I wanted to add some dark non browns contrast to the room. I dont really have any personal items to add to the nightstand. I more than likely have to purchase something from home goods, at home or something that is inexpensive. I dont do much wall art or any family photos in any of the places I have lived because it just makes it too grandma-ish or familyish. Reminds me of grandmother house or parrain with all that wall art, family pictures and sculptures everywhere.

I'm thinking about doing two photos behing the lamps
Something in some type of gold or matte gold picture frame or maybe a matte sliver, with black and white photos of new Orleans since that's my hometown. I sae these frames today at IKEA.

I'll definitely check out that link.

I just check the link and I love the idea of adding mini books to act as a candle stand with some real greenery. Definitely will take that into consideration account. I have some bath and body works 3 wick candles that I have been saving for when the master bedroom get some what put together.

My post was written about making sure you don't crowd the wall space between the bed and the curtains once they are up. You normally hang curtains 6" (or more, depending on the stack back) outside the window frame.

If you are thinking of selling....and want to stage like a model home..... See this collection of model homes. Note the continuous color scheme & styling in each of the homes, plus the use of green plants to add life to the empty rooms. http://tours.stevenjamescollins.com

Art behind lamps....Do you have any wedding pics that you could zoom for a close-up of an embrace or hand holding? Zoom in and make them black and white for an ABSTRACT image.. They are personal, but abstract as they don't identify you. So, you can keep them when staging to sell. on this idea. Keep city pics in public areas of the home, like movie room or mud room or office. Make an emotional connection that most buyers can relate to in the bedroom, plus it gives the positive image of of a very happy home that's full of good memories.

I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your pictures. I'm sorry I made you recall a tragedy.

You could have a friend take some pics of you two holding hands or hugging and edit to black & white. I thought the wedding would be an easy DIY, but any pic can be edited. Holding hands wrhile walking down a street, on a pier.....

All my pictures I do have are on social media and digital lol non of my wedding though. In fact we have no copies of our wedding or any pics. We were going to get some taken for our 20 year anniversary. We're 14 years into it. So we have some time now. It Just really haven't been a priority of us. We are starting IVF in July since we have no kids. We did say when our first child make 1 years old we were going to go to new Orleans and get a family portrait painted in oil. My ma mere and grand parents use to have plenty of oil painting of our family history from Saint- Domingue and New Orleans. Plenty of creole heritage art painted places throughout the home. The Katrina hit and plenty of it was destroyed.

I was so sure after getting this home built the spouse and I would travel back to new Orleans in the garden district and take vintage photos and have each one of us individually painted so we can place them throughout the home especially in my rotunda foyer. If I was to place any family pics in the home they would have been vintage photos of us in very large formats place throughout the home.
17th and 18th century attire and all.

Maybe you can find some magnolia paintings to remind you of home. I was born in Baton Rouge. Louisiana is beautiful. Really miss the people and food. You can keep the weather though.

Love all three of those examples. The ladies with their flowing attire would be pretty in your room. It has gold and silver, along with lovely soft colors.

Is the console going to have the sound bar or cable box on it? I always try to keep the area around a tv as visually quiet as possible so I’d definitely say no to the phone.

everything associate with the TV is wired in the wall behind the TV. We dont have cable because we have hulu, prime, Netflix and fire stick.

the phone is a vintage accent decor piece they are selling then now. like vintage victrola for decorative and vintage phones

you cant really use them . they are decorative accent pieces

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><md>Hey guys wanted to update you all. Curtains rods and panels are up for two of the windows. We still have to change out the rod for the big window and raise it higher. I just quickly made up my bed for the pictures

It's coming together nicely. Two things that stands out in photos is how everything is lined up against the bed wall, and it's all squished in. I would move the night tables away from the bed, and out enough for that the curtains goes behind each of them a bit. I would also consider placing the desk in front of the large window (sliding doors?) instead of shoved in the corner. Or even on the wall to the left of the TV, without the mirror in both of these scenarios.

Edited to add: I see in your other thread you want to use desk as your vanity. I have a faux bamboo vanity with stool in our MBR (was in MB, last house). It has a mirror on a stand. You could still use my suggestions on the other thread and use a mirror like this. And it adds another glam touch to the room.

Hey Allison, the side tables are close to the bed because I have my blow dryer plug in for my toes, and my charger, all of my medications and general items in my drawer not to mention my Google home. I need to be able to reach everything. If I move the nightstands over it will be a large gap between the bed and the night stand. IF I move the nightstand over the curtains will still not fall behind it because there is still room on the left side between the window and the nightstand if that makes sense. The large wall is a wall full of windows. Not floor to ceiling though and that mirror has to stay because it acts as my vanity for my night and day routine. Putting it in center of the windows wont work. Also to mention, that center space is reserve for my accent chairs and nesting tables when I do purchase them for a seating area in the room.

The mirror will be hung over the vanity soon as we change out the rod for the big window and raise it up. It will act as my vanity for my makeup and things which is much needed. but all my makeup and hair items will be placed in the drawer out of sight. I can also use this space to edith my videos and prep for the week. My spouse has his whole own office and I have been planning for this vanity since forever. I place it on the wall with the TV and other console but it just looked weird. I place it in the corner by the night stand and double doors, it was fine but it was one of the first things you see when you enter the room so I move it to the other side of the room plus I can get light from both sides of the vanity/writting desk.

    this the wall here

I'm talking about a few inches, so no large gap. You'll still be able to reach everything. Look on Instagram or at ID websites known for luxurious interiors (not on Pinterest or blogs) and maybe you can better understand my suggestions. If you still decide to hang the mirror, hang it vertically.

I'll play around with the nightstands today and see. how it looks. One thing I wish they did was equally space the two windows on that wall. Those windows are not equally line on the wall and it makes it hard when I have to center my bed with the TV and the night stands. I dislike when things aren't symmetrical. I didn't even think about that when getting this home build. Moving the nightstands forward would make it easier to reach the plugs behind it. I actually have two extension cord behind there with so much attach to it. Also it would combat the issue of my lamp shades hitting the wall. I always have to move them forward on the nightstand to stop it from doing that. I hid the cords in this picture. Usually you see a bunch of cords comming from the side and under the night stand lol. I spend 90 percent of my time in my Mbr lol if I'm not cleaning etc. Just trying to get this room somewhat together before my surgery Monday so when I come home everything can be spacious and easy for me to transition back to my normal self for the next three weeks.

    last modified: 6 years ago

Good luck with your surgery. In DD2's last house, her night tables were directly in front of one panel on each window. Actually, in our last house, ours were too. It is not uncommon.

Edited to add: With the wall of windows, have you thought about live houseplants (something potted on a table, and/or a large tree/tree like plant, and an orchid or two?

    last modified: 6 years ago

Although you stated your intention to use the console table under the TV, my eyes desire a wider or larger piece to ground the space and add balance to the weight of the bed wall.- https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=S7ogXolYx0g

yes I was planning on adding a orchid with a vase console table. Maybe a plant but I feel when I add the nesting table and two sccent chairs the room is going to feel clutter and too much furniture inside of it.

Hi DK before ordering the console table we were thinking about getting a dresser. however our current dressers we had, all fit into our master closet so I didnt see the need to buy a dresser spending 500 to a 1000 bucks for something that wasnt going to be use and make the space feel more clutter, bulky and crowded. I wish the console table was a little wider though. I like the video and sorta the color scheme a little to dark for me and I know with all that furniture in there it looks clutter and crowded. By no means I am a minimalist. I just like spaces to feel open and airy. Another reason why we opted for a metal console table instead of a dresser. I feel like when I add the nesting table and two accent chairs and with this bed being so bulky and the end tables and vanity I am going to feel closed in and over crowded. Then I'll be calling the salvation army to come get most of this stuff and go back to square one with just my bed in the room.

    Hey everyone,

Just thought I give everyone a update on how the room turned out. I still have about 6 more pieces I want to add this room. i.e. accent chair, nesting table, more wall art that have the accents colors, tall plant etc. But that will have to wait until the next two months or so. Tommorw I have my surgery and I will be delighted to spend majority of the next 3 weeks cooped up in this room lol.

This week have been so busy, I had to drive to Louisiana from Texas Saturday to pick up my little sister. She will spend the summer with me until she has to start back college in the fall. This is awsome because I will also have someone to help me around the house for the next 3 weeks not to mention we get to spend time together. I have wash all hubby and I clothes, all the towels, all my puppy toys and her bedding, all the bedding to our bed, all the bath rugs and sofa covers lol. Hubby and I touched up trim in the foyer and around the house. Today he finally raise the mbr curtain rod and exchange it out for a more beefier one. He also hung the head additional pics I needed around the home and wash both cars. I have vacuum and mop every square inch of this place because I know for sure atleast two weeks I wont be able to touch it. I ordered a steamers to knock out the creases and wrinkles in the curtain panels and realize that is a tedious job and I didnt have enough time today to detail it throughout. I had to spot steam the areas where it was just so noticable. Hopefully sometime in July I'll start tackling 6 panels a week to get them fully nice. I should gave started this last month. lol

The left panel is without it being steamed and the right is steam.

Your bedroom looks beautiful! I look forward to seeing it all done. Best wishes for a rapid recovery!

Sorry, but not really. The bed gives off a very fluid feel while the nightstands are very square and rigid.

Hi Grace, the orignal nightstands were square also and boxy.

Southern Bell, I respectfully disagree with Grace. If the bed and nightstands were both square/clean lined, the bedroom would become modern. If all pieces were "fluid," it becomes overly frilly. I think you have a great balance. Hope you are back home and recovering nicely.
