This might be a situation in which you'll have to have the cabinet custom made. But also take a look at Design Within Reach. They have a cabinet called "Line" that has open-slotted doors. It's not a floating cabinet, but it's a great look and is low-slung. Comes in a couple of different sizes, depending on what you need.

That’s beautiful! But not in my budget. Want to stay under $1k and also am concerned with having to clean dust in the slots. I have been looking for what I am imagining for a few months now!

If budget is a concern, maybe get an IKEA solution, then use Semi-handmade custom doors. They specialize in customizing IKEA cabinets and they look great!

Room and board linear has mesh screens. We have one and it works well with remotes but you can’t see the boxes inside so I like it quite a bIt. you can customize the size as well but that might push the budget.

Just get an ir repeater. I little eye gets mounted on the outside of the cabinet to relay the messages to the components.

Online or maybe Best Buy. Its an infrared repeater. Not too expensive.

I believe you can find that "eye" for the remotes at Best buy... my customer got one for their whole media system which was conveniently put in a closet on the other side of the room...
