You shouldn't have the water with a sump-pump installed under the slab. What type of a french drain you have... i,e French drain channel along foundation perimeter between the slab and the foundation wall or under the slab french drain system tied into the sump-pump pit?

Does your pump constantly running?

Some places where there is a high water table sewer pits must be installed under the slab and concrete is poured around them so they don't get forced-out from under the slab.

The french drain is 10 inches deep from the concrete floor. i'm not sure if that is under the slab or above the slab. the french drain links to a sump pit and pumps water out when the bucket fills up. The pump is not constantly running. It runs more frequently in the spring after it rains but it comes on about once every hour in the summer months or less frequently. We've had no water issues since the french drain was installed and we had lots of water in the basement after heavy rainfalls before.
