Totally paint the ceiling.

I like ceilings to match walls in a lot of cases, but I'm not exactly normal, lol.

(When it comes time to paint my Laundry room in Benjamin Moore's Kalamata, I will want to do the ceiling in it, too. Just to give you a Crazy Point of Reference, so you can judge my thoughts for yourself.)

No, it will not clash with the rest of the house if you paint the laundry room walls and ceiling to match. Satin paint on the ceiling may be a bit too reflective. But you can try it. The worst thing that could happen is that you get a step ladder and some flat paint and repaint it.

You can paint the walls and ceiling the same color, Mine arent white, but, they are painted the same color. Its been almost 10 yrs since it was painted and I still like it. I will most likely repaint in there this winter, and choose one shade darker but, I will be doing ceiling and walls the same again.

She's saying that the West Highland White paint clashes with the 'ceiling white' in the laundry room.

Ceiling white, as a rule, is a gray-white and I think that's the problem. Depending on the quality of the drywall finish....if it's good, I would use the satin West Highland paint that you already have. If the finish isn't so good, i.e., you can see dips & bulges, then go buy a gallon of West Highland in flat. If the ceiling is textured, you should be good to go with the satin paint you have on hand.

In addition to stupid and dumb paint, you can probably add weird into the mix if you put satin finish on the ceiling.

Hire an artist to paint a mural on the ceiling of looking up from under a full clothes line with a partially clouded sky above.

I must be "stupid, dumb and weird" or part crow because I use satin paint on the walls & ceiling. In every room. Plus I have skip trowel texture on walls and ceilings.

Flat paint makes me cringe; I have almost no use for flat paint. Exception being that flat paint is useful for an undercoat over darker colors (because of its superior hiding quality) when you want to paint something a lighter color.

Thanks y'all. I am just going to paint the ceiling with the wall paint and see how it looks. I realize it sounds stupid to obsess over a laundry room ceiling color, but I am in serious decision-fatigue mode and sometimes it helps to ask others. Not always obviously. I am making ALL of the finish decisions without professional or even spousal help. Trying to avoid extra work or re-dos because I am doing all of the painting. I appreciate you all taking time to share your opinions.

One Devoted Dame - my brother had a 180lb male great dane who was as goofy as he was large. They HATED their flat paint and changed it ASAP! On a related note - he was too messy to have free access to an inside water bowl. He was trained to stand at their bathtub and bark when he was thirsty. They turned the water on and wiped him with a towel after. Stupid lovable high maintenance beast!

I have to mention, though, that Leos are NOT supposed to drool. Serious breed fault. But this guy? He channels his Saint heritage. Towel dries are for after meals, water, treats, sleep, random parts of the day. Blow dries are for after baths. lol

We have a Spinone, which has a beard. The beard trails water over the kitchen after drinking. Great dog!

I'd paint the ceiling there Westheiland.

I paint my woodwork (semi-gloss) and ceiling (flat) the same color (to avoid your dilemma).
