Have you thought about changing your rug to a 10x14 that way it can take the space of the runner

The first room is my living room, I added the two chairs from my mom’s house. What about coffee table. Mine or my mom’s?
What about pillows, I had the orange ones. I thought plum pillows to bring out colors from the couch. So far rearranging my mom’s and my looks good.
But would love you thoughts.
My parents lived in a gouges. I want to feel that way with my house.

I love both coffee tables but I would choose yours but I would go for one a lot bigger. How old is your rug? Maybe a rug that can compliment all types of your seating. I will see if I can look for one.

My eyes are playing tricks on me right now...haha. Your coffee table is fine. I found this beautiful silk rug that compliments all your seating. A traditional Maharaja. I tried to see if they had in a 10x14 but it was sold out but I’ll keep looking.

My parents house is, just sentimental too me. That’s all, It will be packed up soon.

You really need a larger coffee table and I’d remove the other 2 chairs from your room. As far as the dining room furniture, I don’t know what your ding room looks like so hard to say.

It’s too much in the dining room. Can you place the planters table with vase at living room against stair wall? The wall with table and urn I would place at the opposite corner and have the tall cabinet float there. Place two of the chairs on each side of the buffet. Can you try that? Ottoman have to go somewhere.

Are the dining room photos your dining room?

I see that is your dining room. Way too many chairs. 4 around the table and 2 by the buffet. The rest need to go.

It’s getting a bit confusing as to which photos are your mom’s house and which are yours. If I’ve got it right, the gorgeous oriental rug should be used in your living room and your new one can be put in your dining room.
There are several beautiful pieces from your parent’s home but which ones do you like? Once you’ve identified them, it will be easier to make suggestions. Personally, I would keep the buffet in your mom’s house.

Redryder, I suggested to bring in moms rug in her living space but she says moms rug is too big. The dining area belongs to the op as you see it in the beginning of the thread.

How am I doing?

1. Still need to move the rug into the dinning room.

2. I think the glass top coffee table from my parents house would work better.

3. Need some Ideas for the rug in the living room. My parents is too big.

In general, you have made good improvements. The largest problem right now is that you have too many small, unrelated items strewn about.

Please remove all of the little objects. Then group them in like categories. Example: all silver together or all vases together, etc. From there, we can redecorate.

Try the chairs in dining room on each side of buffet and mirror....the flower/stand can go in tiny corner to left of window for now..pull display case out for now to use elsewhere...

Your mom’s little couch looks like it would fit perfectly ...facing and parallel to the fireplace close enough to make a grouping with the 2 sidechairs...

Remove the corner furniture pieces beside the fireplace...to make that grouping cozier and more inviting...all the tall cabinets ,etc...can find a home after the functional furniture pieces are in place...

Where do you watch tv?...does the big couch serve a need in your lifestyle?....also your coffee table is out of sync..I would delete that for now...

The more open the space ...the better..... to feature the good /sentimental pieces...

Ritasj, You didn’t see the space when I suggested to have the planter stand and and chair switched. If you look at the other pics in the beginning you would have thought differently but anyway she’s not moving the china cabinet so it doesn’t make sense for her to flank the chair there now that we see the whole dining room connected to kitchen. elizaf, the size of the runner you have behind the rug and add them size. I can’t remember the size of the rug. The runner you have is either 2 or 3 feet by ??? Is the dining room 12x15? That’s why I sent a link that is 8x10.

It’s true she has too many pieces but it can work to her advantage.

You don’t need a rug in the dining room. It will take you forever to keep moving small pieces around. It is best to remove all and start over. I will say your space is looking better.

2. Rug ?? There is one in my parents dinning room. At some point I have to move it. I’ll take pictures of it. My dinning room is 14 by 11 ft.
3. Chair by the front door, I like it there. But I’m up for suggestions!
