There are a lot of roses to fit your description. To help narrow it down, where are you in Georgia, generally? Urban Atlanta? Outside Athens? Tennessee border? Rural? Foothills? Near a lake? All these things will influence your answer. Also, what are you looking for beside color and easy care? Big, small, climber? How much room do you have for your roses? Are you near a public garden that grows roses? If you are, have a visit and see what you might like and then ask here about the amount and kind of care needed. If you don't know where any are, maybe someone from Georgia can help once they know your general location.

what size are you looking for? Or how big is the space you plan to put it?

Yes, Dallas 7b, about 40 mi. NW of Atlanta. Suburbia, in a sub division in a semi rural area :) Size - not a huge bush like a knockout gets to be (I have 3) and they do marvelous. Space is limited to medium size plant. Not a climber. Clay soil. I could also put a climber on the side of my house, that’s a thought, but right now looking for a bush type. Have a space for just one. Not near a natural water source. I’ve not grown roses here besides the knockouts.

I grew some in S Fl. And the battle with disease was to much due to temps and humidity. I so want a real rose bush to try here in colors I mentioned. My KN’s are double reds. Hope I’ve helped you. thank you all so much for your interest!

Try Julia Child. It's yellow, has a nice scent, has good disease resistance and is winter hardy. One of my favorites and most easy to grow.

Surprised that you haven't gotten more responses as quite a few here are in GA. Look up posts by prettypetals. I might also look at some of the Kordes bushes such as South Africa and Savannah. They are meant to do well in the south. They have an entire group of roses for the south. Very healthy. Antique Rose Emporium's Pioneer series might also suit. Take a look at Star of the Republic. They are a great resource as is Chamblees, Roses Unlimited and Burlington. Of course there's Heirloom and Grace Roses, but I've never ordered from them.

There are many great roses in that color range. Kordes are strong, especially the Sunbelt collection, as vapor mentioned.

AREs Pioneer roses are reportedly very disease resistant. I have Star of the Republic, and it’s lovely.

Roses Unlimited is having a sale now through 6/25. Rose Petals Nursery still has lots in stock right now. I’d look at some their roses on HelpMeFind.con and see what you like. :-)

K&M Roses is a fantastic on line nursery that ships roses almost all year long. They carry Julia Child which really can't be beat for an all around rose. Just as tough, if not tougher then Knock Out's. They also carry a good line of Kords Roses. Check out their web site. I get probably 80% of my roses from them. Great people and great roses.

Take a look at my post from a tour of the UGA Trial Gardens in Athens. Standouts for me there were Lady of Shallot, Teasing Georgia, Soul Sister, Olivia Austin, and Princess Charlene DeMonaco. I only wish I could go back mid summer to see who's tolerating the heat and fungal diseases the best. Also wish there was a date noting when these plants were put in the ground.

I second Lady of Shallot, but what is your maximum height? What is your sun exposure?

Totoro,...where I will put it will be full sun. Max 5 ft high. Prefer a smallish bush 3 - 4 ft.

LoS is a climber down here, no doubt will still be big up your way. Julia Child, Soul Sister, and Molineux are more medium, but will depend on your soil & frost. :-)

Thanks, climber or big not so good for this spot. Yeah smaller to medium bush. Climber maybe in the future on the side of my house. I had a beautiful yellow climber on a trellis when I lived in N. fL many years ago and I loved it. I think maybe it was called golden showers??? That’s what comes to mind.

I want to see how it goes first with just one....we’ll see how long that lasts!

Also would it be ok to plant one now as many of the companies say they don’t ship til fall? I’m getting eager to get one in but would wait if it was detrimental to do so. Here you can plant the KN’s anytime. I’m leaning /// toward JC.
