How to take heirloom mockorange with me.

We own a house built in the 50's I have 5 TRUE HEIRLOOM MOCK ORANGE, but we will be moving late fall. I am sick, they are huge and I have no way of moving them. Can someone tell me if there is an easy way to start doing clippings now and start growing something off the stems?

They are so beautiful, I just don't know if the eventual home owner will appreciate them.

Philadelphus is very easy to grow from cuttings. Do a lot to cover losses. Also worth looking around the base to see if there are any bits already self layered or suckers that you can just dig out.

Several years ago we were given a hunk of an old - but growing - mock orange. It had been cut down to about 8-10 inches and roots were attached. It was brought to my garden after blooming and was watered all summer. Right now it is doing fine and blooming beautifully although it will take a few more years to grow to an impressive size. It is around 4 feet and is perfuming the garden right now.

Check around the bottom of your shrub and cut some of the side branches - hopefully with roots attached and dig them up. As suggested, take many divisions - just to make sure some make it.
