Get some COLOR and life into that space. Maybe colorblock the island. Add wood and natural materials.

I don’t agree I would stick with the counter material for that small backsplash and then add color with accessories or wall paint , easily changed when you get tired of the color. I do not like real stone and fake stone mixed. If you wanted to add a special counter the island is the place to do so

It doesn’t seem like enough space to justify it. Also, I’d be concerned about the whites matching, so make sure you check samples if you go for it!
