Last year while making a mail order for perennials I decided to include a hosta. I probably did it to make up the minimum order to avoid paying shipping charges.( I know; dumb decision) Though I expected it to arrive bare root I did not expect a tiny seedling! It was so small, I decided to keep it in a pot. However I somehow neglected it and almost killed it. Having nothing to lose, I put the tiny rootball in the garden along with other perennials to winter over.. This spring I noticed a little clump of roots laying on top the soil. I’m sure that was caused by the idiot rampaging dogs. I stepped on the clump to secure it back into the ground. To my amazement I later spotted some growth. I immediately potted it up. Here it is today. I’ve put a quarter in the pot for scale. It is called Silver Shadow. Hopefully, I can take better care of it this summer.
