Lovely! I almost bought one at the sale last weekend... then I decided to use a little bit of restraint. I’ve seen some gorgeous specimens here in the forum. Seems like mbug (among others) has a really pretty one.

I think you’ll be very happy with it. I planted one last summer and I‘m with both the look and the growth. Not sleeping, definitely giving a hard creep. Can’t wait for the leap!

Got it about a month ago. The roots were locked solid into the pot. I had to cut it out. I would label it a vigorous grower.

You's is huge in stature already Jon, This has 6 eyes so hopefully it gets as large leaves as your's in a month too

One of my favorites that keeps its color most of the year, in very little sun. Planted in 2015 so fairly slow for me. This year it was one hit with extensive cold damage so another year setback. Pic from last year.

It was severely rootbound and droopy. I pried all the roots apart (not easy). I always mix in some cow manure and a little peat moss. Raining all the time didn't hurt. The leaves started out big, with 6 eyes yours will be huge soon.

If there were any nurseries near me that carried a hosta that pretty for $8, I'd probably be in serious trouble! Where do you shop?

popmama ..If you can believe it was Walmart garden center. I went in for a 6 pk of annuals for some color in a pot and came out with a hosta instead/ If this was US money it would be way less lol ( our $ is worth only ,75 c in US funds )

I bought one 3 years ago and the color is simply magnificent. I think i like it better than Orange Marmalade--which was one of my favorites.

Some of yours are looking a little more Smash Hit(ty) than Forbidden Fruit(ty). Perhaps its just a maturity thing but could be a TC issue. When someone sticks a name on a plant and sells it, it should be correct. I can imagine a Walmart FF might not always be correct, but the higher priced ones certainly should be. Or maybe Smash Hit isn't all that different in the first place. It wouldn't be the first time. But then, that's what makes sport fishing possible. Does anyone have a soap box I can stand on?

Thanks to someone here, I had to pick up Smash Hit this year. checked the Hosta DB and Orange Marmalade has 8 sports and I grow 4 of them. Went out and took some fresh pics recently.

(And I don't have Orange Marmalade, but I remember the fuss when it came out from my trying to grow Hosta in California days).

Good information Steve. I couldn't match mine with any of the photos because of the gold coloring. I looked in the Hosta Library and saw some pictures that looked like yours (of course) and then some others had some gold or all gold (Maturity, my guess). I do like it, so for me that's all that counts. Thank you for all the information though. Very interesting.

Really? This is my just one more Lowes find from last week. Looks like Yellow Polk Dot Bikini or Hanky Panky to me, but nope just a Hosta with a half dozen eyes (at least) for less than $10

The first pic is my Forbidden Fruit which I got from Rob Canning in 2016. The next pic is of Orange Marmalade on the left and Orange Star on the right. I think that Forbidden Fruit is much more attractive than Orange Marmalade.
