Replace furnace or not?

I have a Lennox g43UF series (model c33-43c-2f-6) furnace and currently have a 13SEER Lennox AC unit. The unit needs to be replaced due to a mixing of refrigerants. The dealer is doing that part of the work for free. Will replace with either AMana or American standard 16 Seer.

The furnace is 13 years old operating in a Cincinnati, OH (moderate winter). A couple cleanouts but no other repair needed. I think this is a 90% EFF unit. SHould I replace at same time or does this unit potentially have another 7 years life span. Is it ok that the system doesn't match? Any issues?

Is a quote of 4750 for install of a Amana ASX16037 reasonable?

Thanks

"The dealer is doing that part of the work for free."

Even if he's replacing evaporator coil also, $4750 for the ASX16 condenser, he's not doing anything for free!

Did you get the coil model number? Even if you keep the current furnace I suggest getting the matching coil for the condenser.

Will the line set be replaced? Who made the mistake of mixing refrigerants?

The furnace has a potential life of 5 - 10 years. How long do you plan to live in this house? If it longer than 10 years then it makes sense to replace the furnace now and enjoy it.

Sorry I put the wrong model # in. The furnace quote of 4750 is for a AMEC9610045. The other number was the AC model #.

Ah, OK. If that's the case, here's a suggestion. Ask him how much a premium he would charge to upgrade to the Amana ASXC16 2 stage AC and the Amana ACVC96 furnace. Then you would have a full 2 stage communicating system. I only suggest this as he's paying to replace the AC condenser and coil (presumably because he used the incompatible refrigerants) and he's already proposed a 2 stage (non-communicating) furnace.

The upgrade to the ASXC16 should only be $200-$400 and the ugrade to the ACVC96 should only be $100-$200. At worst, that's $5350 for a really good brand new system. The Lennox furnace should last a few more years, but who knows.... this winter it may go south on you! So even if you go with the originally suggested equipment, I would probably replace the furnace also.
