Glad the surgery went well! Yep, crutches are a pain, used them for a broken ankle when I was in my 20’s. Nothing worse than navigating stairs with them, ended up sliding the stairs on my butt. I know, what a picture that conjures ; )

Hope you recover quickly, sounds like you are doing really well though, especially with the additional work done on it. Just follow instructions and don't do too much. Did you say you start therapy tomorrow?

I am so glad your surgery went well! That ice water machine is worth its weight in gold, isn't it? Get your wife to check; if insurance soesn't cover, a lot of times equipment like that winds up in thrift stores around here. Tell your wife photographing your pictures is really good medicine for the spirits...Walmart here sells a tall toilet seat that clamps on your regular one very easily...The keeps from from straining to sit or to stand....no pressure on the knee...about $40. It was worth it when I had knee surgery. I did pray for you early this morning and will continue to do so.

So happy you were blessed with a successful surgery. Now for the daily grind of the recovery. Did they tell you you couldn't use a walker? That's what they recommended for my DH after both of his knee replacement surgeries. I'm sure however that you will get the best possible advice for your individual circumstances. 6 weeks will be gone before you know it...........Maryl

Think of it this way , 6 weeks inconvenience for a long and painless knee for rest of your life . Trade off sounds pretty good to me . Also this will force you to sit and enjoy your gardens .......no toodling around pulling this weed or moving that compost ......sit back and enjoy . Glad to hear there are lots of people around to help you . Recover well !

I went to PT today. Erin [my PT] was very happy with how mobile my knee was and that there is no pain there! I do have aches and pains from using the crutches! I've got about 8 exercises to do 2-3x daily, which I will be doing. She also adjusted my crutches correctly and helped me to use them better.

Someone already loaned me a wheel chair and tub seat. I bought a hand held shower head. Our Sunday School class is going to bring a couple of meals a week on weekdays, which I generally made. My 14 year old daughter will do some cooking too.

Maryl, I'll see about a walker; I'm going to call my physician. I would have to use it one legged but It might be easier than crutches. The hardest thing about crutches is the 3 steps to get into the house. Going out is not bad. And Kay, I'll check out the toilet seat. Good ideas!

Yes, the ice machine is awesome!

I can wheel well in the house or sidewalks. I tried a go-round of the yard by myself in the wheelchair after PT to see the daylilies and never again! Someone here will have to push me around the yard. Kept getting stuck, etc.

Brad , sounds like you have everything covered pretty well . Good to hear you have no pain. I am sorry but your last comment had me rolling on the floor laughing . I could just picture you in the garden spinning your wheels in the dirt like at the truck derbies dnd possibly shouting along with it .. OMG . So funny! What a genius Brad. A riding mower to get you around to see your daylilies AND mow your yard at the same time. I will pass that on to my DH who insisted on having this last surgery during the winter months because he didn't want to have to pay anyone to mow his grass..........Maryl

Did I say no pain? Between the PT exercises and not having the ice full time anymore, and getting out of the chairs with my arms and left leg,,,,hoo boy.

Well, there is a big difference between a torn meniscus requiring a trim and one requiring repair. I walked four blocks the afternoon of surgery. But you have a positive attitude and a network of helpers, so with patience and therapy, the prognosis seems good. The important thing is the long term. Wishing you the best.
