I think the rug and the pillows go well, but I think you need another color to add a punch. A pop of yellow or orange would really complete the room.

I don't know why but pillows are so hard! There's just SO MANY options, but I gotta say that you did a killer job! I wouldn't change a thing. It's a beautiful monochromatic look. However, it seems you think there needs to be a change??

I agree with a color pop. Something opposite on the color wheel like orange or yellow is good. I would never consider a "distressed" rug to be formal since it is designed to look used.

Even that gold dog toy is a nice color for the room. Artwork and curtains will help too.

I think the rug looks casual in here and goes will with the rest of the room and furniture. I think the pillows coordinate *too* well with everything. They kind of wash out with the sofa and rug. Instead of thinking "pop of color" I'd think more about contrast. (This might just be because I'm a fan of darks and neutrals.) Think about charcoal colored pillows and ones that have something going on - a bit adornment though not crazy, so they show contrast and don't just melt into the fabric of the sofa.

Put some of the blue on the shelves and look for art which also has the blue. Right now, all the blue is down low. Add more of the blue in window treatments.

@danielle petron, we purchased this at Havertys - Meridian sectional. So comfy and fits our space perfectly! Similar to RH cloud couch but it keeps its shape. Great purchase!!

this one is similar to your set up. look at the bits of turquoise spread out on the shelves. do this with whatever accent color you pick. (you could also paint the back wall of your shelves a contrasting color

you could also bring in a dark blue console, hang art above it, or go more neutral w/lighter wood and a macrame type of wall hanging

are there plans to trim out those windows? maybe add some potted plants?

Ooh, I really like that rusty salmon, or whatever that color is. Let me see what I can find to go with it.

I'm with Groveraxle. I much prefer the rusty salmon to the yellow. It is smashing with the rug.

Maybe some airy curtain panels to soften the windows a bit without blocking the light or view.

Rug is not too formal. Not a bad look, you just need more in the room. Add ART, end tables, lamps and decorate your shelves, then take another look. Agree that an addition color would liven things up. Drapes on the windows.

Love the couch and the little shih tzu sleeping comfortably on it! :)) You have some great ideas, and rug is nice for the space!

Wow. The room looked nice in the first photo but now looks fabulous. You DO work fast! Art work and curtains will really be the finishing touches. And the shelves. I love the rug for your house. And it’s not formal at all. It looks comfy.

There are too many pillows. There are no interesting things on the shelves. The tv is too high....can you move it onto a lower shelf?.....or put a mantel under it? I see no art! Hang something on those bare walls. Art comes in many forms: original, reproduction, oils, watercolor, prints, even nice posters. Art does looks better framed.

groveraxle, your idea for the pouf was spot on and showing the pops of color options was inspirational. Yes, I work fast - gotta strike while the iron is hot with my hubby! As for art and drapes (panels) and shelf decor, that is work in progress. Hoping to have finished by Friday and will post pic. Love this forum, so many great ideas! PS, I still like the salmon color (prefer muted tones) but got outvoted by rest of the fam bam!
