Leonardo da Vinci?

Labeled as Sexy Rexy, but it had a Leonardo da Vinci tag buried in the roots. Judging from this first bloom, I am going to assume it is not Sexy Rexy. Is anyone familiar enough with Leonardo da Vinci tell me if this is typical of that rose? Can I assume that this was the correct label? :) it looks similar enough to pictures I’ve seen, but what do I know. I know that the first bloom does not usually give a very accurate portrayal, and I will try to provide more once it gets a little more mature.

If this is Leonardo da Vinci, I don’t hear much about that one. What are your comments on it? Does anyone grow it? Do you love it or hate it? LOL I am impressed so far, just with the shape of the plant, the healthy beautiful leaves and the quantity of buds on a newly planted bear root. We shall see as it gets older!

This my Leonardo da Vinci. It is a nice shaped bush and is about 6 feet tall. Not much fragrance to my nose. It has a different shape at the base as it is a square base.

Well I loved Leonardo!! My first round of blooms on a first year plant were a little funny looking, then they came into glory the next round but it was own root . But it’s one I want to grow again!! I don’t think I remember fragrance. Are you on Instagram, let me find a post I love from a favorite gardener . She grows it magnificent!

I've seen pictures of Leonardo when online browsing and it has piqued my interest. Hence why I was checking this thread. To be honest I think there are a ton of really great roses out there that are not mentioned on here. Plus, every rose grows differently in each zone. You will just have to keep us updated.

Yes, oldrosarian, you show a wonderful example of Leonardo da Vinci rose--it's one I've wanted for years. I'm always pestering Flowers for photos of her beautiful Leo, which she loves, and updates on him. I hope she sees this thread. Thanks for posting those pics. Diane

My Leonardo is more of a short climber. It just finished a flush with blooms up and down the long -ish canes. Very clean, no blackspot, very healthy. I cant really figure out what it wants to be - a floribunda or a short climber, I think the latter. I put a short trellis behind it and will keep the long canes tied to that. It is glorious when in full bloom all up and down the canes.
