Dearest Valentine looks great today, Triple Delight really caught my eye today, I love the wide purple edge trimmed in pale yellow (?). I have Upgrade and it always has spots here, some days more pronounced than others.

Other than Dearest Valentine of course, that Sailing Into the Blue does it again. Wall of Fire has a wonderful color. Is Thomas Tew still showing the tan color? Just give it time and wait for rebloom!!

Kate - Thomas Tew is still tan, but more of a cream tan now.

Dearest Valentine is gorgeous! You know I love fighting Fire. How nice to know the pretty bloom is Color Crazy! This is such a nice post...Wall of fire is lovely, and so is triple Delight which I really like. there are too many beauties to mention individually.

Kay - It is wonderful to have a NOID identified. There were so many pretty blooms today. I've taken more than 900 photos in the past three days. I don't know when I'll ever get them worked.

Men in Black .....what a difference ! Hardly looks like the same plant . No sign of the eye on the darker version. How weird. Hard to tell but is English Lavender a bitone? So many lovely blooms . Wish I could be there to walk your gardens !

Heather - Thank you! I will check into all the ins and outs of doing the phyto after the season's over. English Lavender is not a bitone, but the stuff I use as deer/rabbit deterrent tends to fade the sepals.

Dearest Valentine is so darned pretty. About the time we start getting some sunshine the rain returns so mine hasn't "caught" on like I had hoped it would. It just needs more warm sun to grow. More rain for the next few days unfortunately.......Your Linda Beck always looks so wonderful. Mine just started blooming here too...........English Lavender is still one of my favorites of yours. It wasn't growing well for you awhile back you said. How's it doing now?............Maryl

Maryl - With all that rain, once Dearest Valentine starts growing well, there will be no stopping it. English Lavender is still just three fans, and only one of them scaped. But that one did have 17 buds. So it's getting better, but it really doesn't like real winters.

I was just going to ask about English Lavender, as in previous years you sort of dissed it. Will await northern experiences with Dearest Valentine.

Mantis - English Lavender is not for the north, and maybe not for the south either. I bought it from Dot Parker, who said it did NOT grow well for her in Texas. It does have a wonderful colored bloom with a super white edge with some teeth. I keep it, hoping I can cross it with something hardier and get a good kid out of it.

I think I had looked up English Lavender last year and saw it was a EV so decided it was not for here but I love the color of the bloom.Sailing into the Blue was another one I liked but again, it is an EV. I can't wait to see how Dearest Valentine opens here. Reckless Girls does have an interesting "spotting".

Dearest Valentine has such a gorgeous bloom! How different Men in Black looks, I would not have expected that. I did notice yesterday morning that Ashwood Still Night was greyed out a bit, and I was reminded of Trahlyta, but nothing to that extent.

Nancy 6b - I wouldn't have expected Men in Black to ever look that way. It had three blooms like that, but by afternoon they all three looked like the normal Men in Black.

Julia , I am interested to know your experiences with EV's . You are not that far away from me and I am always leary about trying to grow EV's here

Signet: I rarely pick EV's to grow here UNLESS someone indicates that it grows more like a SEV then I may take a chance. I have several (maybe 20 or so) that are registered as EV's but do fine here.

Julie would you be willing to share the names of those 20 ? I am always looking to possibly add new ones but like I said I am a little leary and hate to waste money on a daylily that wont make it here.

Edited to add: I just added Entwined in the Vine to my garden this spring . It is an EV and I am worried I did the wrong thing by adding it . If I were rich it wouldn;t matter but I am not .. Does it happen to be one of your 20 ?
