What can I do to reface this fireplace, not a fan of the dark brown fireplace or beams

Purchased this condo, which I love. Just don't like this big brown fireplace and brown beams. I want to use a lighter color throughout the room. This is a living area, and the fireplace is against the wall. With our HOA, we can do anything we like with the inside of the home, outside you must have permission.

If you must remodel or modify the fireplace.....
    First, I noticed that you can lighten the room by;
Expanding that window into French doors to the deck. I'm pretty sure I see a deck outside that window with a beautiful wooded view? A nice opening to the deck outside would draw your eyes back to that wooded area. I think it would be beautiful.
I would also replace that carpet with a nice grayish toned hardwood flooring or similar stone to that color especially around a fireplace
You can either adhear decorative tile, tin, copper or actual rock, marble or granite to the surface wood area and the entire mantle. Something that draws your eyes up. Don't be afraid of texture or pattern accents. But kind of keep the colors neutral or natural but to compliment the beautiful hardwood grayish floors.
Leave the black slab in front of the fireplace. Clean up the glass. Treat the metal either high shining it up, or using a chemical treatment to give it an oxidized look. Or what I would do is remove it all together and replace it with a new large 2 sided glass fireplace insert! If you put in new doors to the deck that natural light will be seen right thru the fireplace during the day from the far side of the room!
The beams can be stained or painted (even a white-ish) a different color but lighter than the walls. They can also be covered with tin or copper tiles. Or thin pieces of barn wood slates....
The walls paint a complimentary color to match your floors, furnishings and decor. You still want the fireplace to be the focal point, so it can be different. You really don't have a choice anyways.
Lighting, soft accent lighting bringing out the fireplace on the window side beam facing the fireplace or just hanging.
Lighting should be more bright, especially on the interior side of the space furthest from the window, brightening that half of the room.
Maybe utilize those beams and add hanging pendulum or pennant style lighting or even a more rustic or more modern style upscale track lighting...hiding the wiring in the beams and running electric into the wall down to new light switches.
I don't know what your style is, so it's hard to point you in an exact direction.
But those are some ideas for future remodeling if you really want to brighten that room and change out the beams and fireplace style.

Wow, all wonderful suggestions. Will take these suggestions and make necessary improvements. Loved being backed into the woods, that is why I purchased it. Thanks so much

Is this in the middle of the room? What is the window part? Dining area? Or just "other" area?

I’m also wondering what’s behind the fireplace.

Is this a usable fireplace? To my eye the spaces on either side of it look difficult to use. And the wood part reeks of the 70's to me, not MCM? If you don't love the FP, consider getting rid of it.

Agree with lizziesma. Seems awkward at least from this picture

Talk to the other condo owners to see if they've remodelled their fireplaces. If you want to make a major change like rebuilding it from the ground up, you will probably need to get approval from the HOA. If you just want to get rid of the brown, paint it white and cover the diagonal wood with wallboard. Then put up some fabulous art you love over the fireplace. The brass can be spray painted with a special heat resistant paint.

Thanks sounds doable, and not so expensive.
