Dining Room through to Kitchen dimensions

We're working through some kitchen layouts. The current favorite (see floor plan attached) results in walking from the front door through the dining room to get to the kitchen. All new walls are blue in the floor plan. I've bumped the wall between the dining and kitchen back about 11" to give some extra space to walk through to the kitchen, plus would keep the new window in the dining room (it's blue) centered on the framed opening from the front door entrance, meaning the window would be off center on its wall. Thoughts? Also, thoughts on the kitchen layout are also welcome!

Personally, I don't care for the flow, it would really bother me to walk in that way and have the main flow of traffic go through the dining room and also right past the fridge. What is that room in the very center of the home? Laundry?

A very simple change I might consider would be to move that short wall from the entry between the family room to the other side between the dining room and changing the way the door opens that way you are entering facing the family room and hall closet when you enter.

Not sure if you can make bigger changes, but I would consider flipping that office/bedroom to the front of the home and moving the family room back so it's connected more to the living room.

I do love that the office/bedroom has access to the bathroom but also open to the family room. And love the seating area in the kitchen!

I'm certainly not an expert but built a home and designed floor plans from scratch.

    1. What is that space in the center of the house?? Can part of all of it be given back?
    2. I don’t like the double doors to the bath, think about the ‘view’ from the bedroom or living room if either one or both doors is open. Who is using this bedroom? Consider on door, where the shower is right now.
    3. That is a lot of space to dedicate to dining. How often will the dining room be used? Maybe rotate the DR table to create a hallway?

Is this an existing house or a new build? If existing can you post some pics as is now and the floor plan as it is now?

I should note too that we come in and out of the house through the back door so the front door is only used for guests.

I think the center part needs reworking and I see no reason to have table seating in the kitchen that corner could be better used for the pantry area with pullouts tha would then help with reworking that center area to allow entry into the kitchen without going through the DR. I am not sure what the space is at the bottom right as much as I love main floor laundry in this case I think it needs to go either up or down to open that space. I also really dislike a bathroom entry off a LR I guess the question is how often you need that large dining spce and the idea to creat a bit of hall is a good one.

You have three exterior doors. Where are the driveway and garage located? You will be bringing groceries in every week. There will be children and equipment. Guests and friends will come in the front door, but family members most often come in from the driveway, garage or back yard. Do the deck stairs lead down to the driveway? That’s the most convenient entry for groceries. Any door you come in will direct you through another room before arriving at the kitchen.

The driveway is in the back of the house by the kitchen, so that's the most used door, for sure. The side door we are adding to connect the living room to the backyard (via the sideyard) so that you have additional access and don't have to walk all the way through the kitchen.

The small room on the bottom right is an office, which is also technically a bedroom. Moving the laundry is a significant cost and I also plan to use it as a mudroom as well, to deposit bookbags, etc.

Once again is this a new build or a renovation??

If it's a renovation what does the floor plan look like now and do you have pictures?

Also the little area between the back kitchen door and the kitchen I have reserved for a breakfast nook. It's my favorite spot in the house (actually for the evening time) because the window points SW. I don't want the dining room back there because the dining room table ends up just catching all of our junk as we walk in the house.
