Not a fan of light colored flooring. I think the hickory is too busy looking.

Maple or white oak. I’m one of those people who hates the color variations in hickory with a passion. I consider it a bossy floor.

What floor do YOU like? That's all that matters. Nobody here is ever going to see it. Why does anyone else's opinion matter?

@tatts of course it’s my choice, but when I’m on the fence I like opinions. Sometimes I get something to think about I may not have considered before, like checking out white oak. That’s what discussions are for.

Melanie I like the look of Hickory as well but it is so busy it can be hard to use any furniture with a pattern or an area rug. Just a thought....

One way to find a balance between the two is to go with reclaimed flooring. It ends up looking shabby-chic. The character pops out to give both light and dark accents to the floors. Just a thought.
