I plant mine outside in the garden. They need to go into real soil as soon as the flower fades so that the leaves have the nutrients they need to continue to photosynthesise and feed the bulb for next year. However, I don't know if you get enough chill in Florida for hyacinths to return year after year.

In FL, you just toss it. It will not survive or return in your climate and once forced in water, will not do well attempting that method again. Just start with fresh prechilled bulbs if you want to force in a jar/glass again.

So if I plant it, it won't come back. Well since I'm not going to lose anything, I'll plant it in partial shade. We don't really get too cold over here. This year we did have a week cold, late in the season, about March, which is unheard of here. Thank you for your answers.

You might get leaves perhaps but not a flower if it doesn't get the requisite winter chill.
