How do you downsize a photo?

A photo editor will do it but I use FastStone Photo Resizer. I usually download the photos for the day/event and name the folder whatever it is - place, an event, etc. Then I rename most of the photos to reflect what it is. After that I run the entire folder photos through the Photo Resizer and put those in a subfolder labeled email. Easy. I set up the advanced options to have a max size of 8 inches by 8 inches so if it is portrait mode, it will be max 8 inches high. If it is landscape mode (orientation) then it will be max 8 inches wide.

I didn't have any trouble posting this photo either.

When you transfer photos from the camera to your computer, they transfer full size. But after you review the photos in your photo program, and choose Export photos, in that process it gives you the choice of what size to export them in. I usually choose medium or large, but not full size. Small size seems too small to me. That should fix the problem, assuming you are trying to post a photo in it's original size.

I don't normally have issues with photos but do now. I'm assuming it's a temporary Houzz issue.

Reducing a full size photo by a factor of 20 on my big camera and maybe a factor of 3 from my phone will significantly improve your odds of GW 1) uploading the file and 2) posting it. This is an example of the size reduction I see in a lot of my photos and for email/posting on the web, you do not need a photo so large that you would be scrolling left/right and up/down if it was viewed at full size. My camera image sizes may be 20 MB while the phone is typically 3 MB.

I reduced these photos from my phone from last evening after I downloaded them to my laptop and oriented them correctly. Some websites will not orient the pictures for you.

A lot of camera have problems with red so this is not what I see as it is a much darker red. Still amazing what the phone cameras can do (and not do).

Resized to 50% using the Windows Paint program.

It took a little while (15 seconds) to hazy out, but it worked.
