In general, I again find that the protracted cold of winter has favored otherwise tender cultivars. In addition, because of milder and more consistent spring temperatures, I am not seeing the short-scape syndrome of last year so far.

Flight of Orchids is beautiful, Mantis. Gimmee, Gimmee, Gimmee is really doing well, it seems. Vision Encounter is lovely with the huge eye. I, of course, really like Stop The Car since it is a bright one. Imperial Empress is a beauty and Philistine Champion looks good.

Works for Me grabs my attention today as does that wonderful clump of Gimmee, Gimmee, Gimmee (going to have to start abbreviating that!). But such a nice selection of photos. And from my posts, you know I love the older cultivars. There are so many that shine which is why I have so many, including many noids in my garden. I have enjoyed Omomuki in my garden, as well. It just glows! (Think of my noid as Omomuki on steroids, about 12-15 inches taller with larger blooms!) I was hoping you would post some of your garden photos-the ones you visited a few weeks ago. Those are always so interesting.

Lovely daylilies! We added Just Like Candy last season, but it hasn't bloomed for us yet. Purple Tarantula always catches my eye. We don't grow many diploids, but I'll make an exception for that one.

Just Like Candy is not high bud count or good branching. I don't know if it is worth your hybridizing program, Nancy. I was surprised that Purple Tarantula had a pretty strong stem, but will see later. Kay, my error, it is Vision Seeker, a

Kate, I visited many gardens in Washington and Oregon (including Bellevue Gardens, Adelman's gardens, A&D nursery, The Oregon Garden, several gardens in Portland, gardens in Salem) and have made numerous posts on my Facebook page. The weather was generally mild in the seventies. Roses were at their peak. Peonies in Washington were around peak. However, the Northwest is not really daylily country, though later I am sure there will be some display. Nights are sort of cool for many daylilies. I don't think people on this page would appreciate posts of other plants at this stage.

I look forward to seeing your gardens, a wonderful selection. I enjoy seeing the older plants, most are great performers. Caribbean Whipped Cream is my winner today, I love the simple beauty and great edge.

What nice clumps of Works for Me and Gimme! Let us know how Vision Seeker does for you. I really like that one. I liked your Angel's Share last year, and it's even better this year with the butterfly!

As always, when you post your photos, I enjoy all of them tremendously. Everything looks so healthy and abundant. It is so pleasing to see so many daylilies blooming, so keep the photos coming! As for favorites, it's always a struggle to pick just one or two when they're all so deserving. But I would say that it was the yellows that made me look several times. Marie Hooper Memorial (I love large blooms), Omomuki (a dazzling yellow and all-star performer) and Carib. Whipped Cream. I had almost gotten the latter one but hesitated because it is registered at just 19 inches and I like tall daylilies.

As I scrolled through I saw so many i like. Vision Seeker, Calamity Jane, wonderful clumps of Gimmee and Works for Me, but then I saw Flight of Orchids, my definite favorite. I have planted Caribbean Whipped Cream twice, sadly it promptly died twice

Caribbean Whipped Cream usually blooms taller than registered, but a few inches still leave it as not tall. Angel's Share didn't seem that vigorous last year, but this year does. As I noted, evergreens look especially good after last winter. The bloom on Angel's Share is somewhat similar to Spiritual Corridor.

Although there are many pretty ones such as Imperial Empress, I surprised myself by liking the pale cream yellow Caribbean Whipped Cream. Looks like a large open faced bloom with lots of ruffles. Just stands out......I don't care how old a daylily is. As in the old television promo: "If I haven't seen it, it's new to me". Plus I keep what I like and don't feel the need to change out just to have the latest. Consequently I grow several old ones and wouldn't think of getting rid of them. So...Bring 'em on...............Maryl

I agree with Maryl and I find that so many of the 'oldies but goodies' are the best performing daylilies I own. Too many times I've gotten taken by a newer, flashier face and tossed it, only to still have almost all of my older daylilies. I am still obtaining some of the older cultivars so I want to know how they perform for you and others. Continue to show the older ones right along with the newest!

Mantis, you have so many nice ones and good clumps. It is tough to even pick a favorite. Gimmie, Heroes on Horses and Buenos Aires are the ones that most stood out.

All looking good! Calamity Jane is so pretty! I also like My Heart Belongs to Daddy, Flight of Orchids, how Black Falcon Ritual looks with those purple leaves and Gimmee x 3 clump!

Nat4B: It's a tri-colored beech (at the estate). Celeste, yes, there are a lot of new faces that did nothing but shrink my wallet. This forum can help with that.
