I'm glad the huge limb spared your house and your plants! I love that first seedling and of course, Last Snowflake. My LS was hit hard by our winter this year, but is looking much better now... although I'm sure I have fewer fans.

You are indeed fortunate that your house and garden beds were spared. My sister had a hundred plus year old tree come down in her driveway in Thursday night storms. It took out her mailbox and blocked her drive but fortunately no other significant damage. Lovely clumps today. There is that Blazing Saddles again! August Groom looks good and Sweet Child of Mine looks to have a good season. Dearest Valentine is lovely and seedlings keep coming! Interesting about Angels Bow Down. In my previous post I posted Unshakable Kingdom. It was the prettiest daylily in the garden on that cool overcast rainy morning. By the time temps soared in the afternoon and heat index went raging up, it was probably the ugliest-in full disclosure I posted the ugly pic in comments. I don’t think it will retain the choice spot it currently has in the garden.

Now Debra, why is your Autum Wood booming, but mine is not? I guess you are a couple degrees warmer. Too bad about Angel's Bow Down, that is really pretty. You do have really nice seedlings, and your reds just take my breath away. It is too bad about your tree, but your daylily bed still looks pretty. There was a tornado spotted just a few miles from us, the sirens stayed on for a long time. Trees down and power was off in the area, but el no major injuries or losses that I have heard.

August Groom hasn't looked good here so far. Last year was smallish and an unappealing color. Will see about this year.

August Groom looks so good, and Sweet Child of Mine, and Bla,,,why sis I not say off the bat every one is great. Saves typing. I just got Westbourne Good old days from Celeste this spring, but looks like soon I will be down to 1 fan. Maybe too much rain, but that 1 fan looks good.

Kay - You are right. That limb coming down could have been a major disaster, instead of a minor one. I consider myself lucky.

Mantis - I will be taking down the entire ancient Hackberry tree. As those trees age, the branches become hollow inside. I used to have two Hackberries in the front yard. There was on where my red bed now is. It split in two in a storm seven or eight years back and went into the neighbor's yard only inches from that house. So we had that one cut down, along with another in the backyard. The tree surgeon thought this last one did not have the hollowing out problem, but urged us to keep an eye on it. It's time for it to go. That will give me some sunny space for some seedling beds.

Laura - My Last Snowflake has never really bounced back from the bad winters. I still only have two fans, despite planting it in a sheltered place. It does have 8-9 buds per scape this year, after last year scaping on only one fan with three buds.

Kate - That's too bad that Unshakable Kingdom can't take the heat. I suspected there might be a problem with Angels Bow Down. I got Faith That Can Move Mountains from Karol at the same time, and that one seems to take the heat pretty well.

Nancy 6B, Brad and others who haven't had good luck with Westbourne Good Old Days - I wish it grew for you like it does for me. It's so vigorous here that I've sold divisions eight or nine times, plus traded with it several times. I must have it planted in a spot it loves.

Mantis - August Groom is another one that grows like gangbusters for me. The foliage looks so bad in my photo because I chopped it back. It has such thick, tall foliage here that it shades daylilies in back of it, and they won't scape unless the groom gets a haircut.

Both of your seedlings are lovely again! My favorite of the day is Promises Kept, although those clump shots are tugging at me, Dearest Valentine is still looking wonderful.

Debra, My WGODays has a break in the middle of the day, so I am suspecting it is not getting enough sun. The neighbor's large maple tree has taken away some needed sun. Gotta reconfigure something. Thanks

When life gives you lemons - well, make a new seedling bed out of them. Good though there wasn't serious damage done......Autumn Wood catches my eye and is my favorite of this group. Back in the day I had a choice between it and Smokey Mountain Autumn. I chose SMA, but I wish I had had room for both.......August Groom is pretty with the white edging to set it off. The pinks always catch my eye just cuz they are pink.........Maryl

Debra, just discovered this post. Not sure how I missed it but went looking when you commented that you had experienced the same problem with a dropped limb . So many posts going by and while the sun shines I am outside all day .

So glad your incident didn't create major damage for you . Lucky you , you can call Public Works to do the clean up . Here I am public works . My hubby cuts it up I pile and rake ......no fun at all .

Heather - Luck was with both of us. Public works came back yesterday with chainsaws and a truck with a claw arm to take away the debris from my limb. Thank goodness it's a year with mayoral election, and crews were sent out to help people with storm damage. I was going to vote for one the mayor's opponents. But he won me over with the city's free help.

Westbourne Good Old Days is such a great landscape daylily. I need to put it where it can be seen better.
