Nicholsworth yes it is a ferns. Not certain what kind it is though . It stays so nice and upright but came with some gout weed (hink that is what it is called ) and I am having one heck of a time getting rid of it

ferns are beautiful with hostas in my opinion..I have a tiny bit of goutweed that hasn't spread much..where it is it wouldn't be a problem if it did..but I've read that it's invasive and difficult to remove..keep hacking on it!..I wonder if you have a cinnamon fern (common name)..I don't have any but my neighbor has large ferns and calls them "cinnamon ferns"..you might look it up..

Nicholsworth Yes I have a cinnamon Fern It is quite hardy and have been asked about it before/ Linda's I do have ostrich fern but my favorite is Lady in Red with the red stocks . It grows slowly but the clump is getting bigger finally. I had two but one must have not liked the location and it died. As for the Rocks they each have a name lol. Murray mountain as my husband had to place it by rolling with a backhoe bucket and went through one fence, Another is called Vern's rock that we dragged from a neighbour;s on a piece of 1 inch thick plywood . It was in a danger place and threatening another neighbor house below Vern's place , And we know a friend that has a rock quarry and we got a load from Laverne . The small ones were made into a dry creek to get rid of them I do love rocks. Brought one back all the way from Arizona in the motorhome lol

Patti .. No snow here (Salmon Arm, BC in the Shuswap ) but in the passes of Banff / Jasper and the Coquihalla going to Vancouver there was but melted by the noon hour.It was and a low of 10 celsius at night here so no danger of damage to gardens

My favorite fern is the lady in red fern too. I have 3 planted in a row and this year they look just fabulous. It's been a cool rainy spring and they are happy.

Beautiful gardens. We have family in the Shuswap...Blind Bay area. He doesn't have any hostas so we haven't visited yet. :)

It's been about 40 years since I visited BC so I should plan a trip before...you know...it's time for the curtain to come down for the final time. The relative is one of those people who only wants to grow tomatoes...which makes me wonder ... is he really a relative?

ha ha mae, I grow tomatoes too but just for my own use and can the extras. They do taste much better then store bought. If you come the phone number is in the book and I can give you the address
