So in short, not a fern at all, but an asparagus (typically called asparagus fern though).

Leave it to me to go shopping for a fern and come back with an asparagus. :D (To be fair two of the three ferns I bought were actually ferns.)

It doesn't! It's only my sense of "balance" in wanting ferns inside my bathroom when the view through the bathroom window is of my native fern garden.

It is not an asparagus plant, it is an asparagus fern so yes, it is a fern.

It most certainly IS an asparagus plant!! There are some 300 species of asparagus, only one of which is considered edible. But most species will produce at some point in their growth cycle soft, delicate, lacy, fern-like foliage....even Asparagus officinalis or the edible asparagus. But despite what they look like, because they reproduce by flowers and seeds, they are NOT ferns, which reproduce by spores and never produce flowers or seeds.
