lol Ken I have way too many hosta already and so do you from what I recall. You sound like my uncle and said fern are weeds where he lived on the coast and invaded his blueberry fields How many hosta are enough? lol

Beverly do they leave your hosta alone? We have none around but do from time to time see skunk and racoons but not sure they like them

I have raccoons around too. Never seen them eat my hostas, just bugs eat them! ☹️

I think your ferns are lovely and compliment your other garden plants. I have some also, but nothing new to add to yours. My favorite (from the ones I have) is the maidenhair fern. I love to see it blowing in the wind and love the look of the curled up leaves in the spring.

I have three of them. When we were out looking on the logging road for other fern, I yelled at my husband stop stop! He thought something got ran over and I found a maiden hair fern in the bush. Not certain how it got there but it lives here now lol. They are really expensive to buy so was like a treasure hunt lol. He just shakes his head at me from time to time

I would have done exactly what you did on that logging road! And my husband shakes his head at me all the time!

Last year I visited a private garden that had a magnificent maidenhair fern. Don't you think?

I have heard that the Autumn fern turns a nice color in the fall. Does it for you Nicholsworth?

newhostalady..I took a quick look through my pics (not all of them) and couldn't find a pic with a fern in "autumn" colors..my best color comes in the spring when the fiddleheads emerge and then unfurl..they're a beautiful pinky orange color..I need to remember to take some pics next spring..I bet I have some somewhere..

I planted a few ferns, but they keep getting overgrown by the Hosta. I also inherited some Ostrich fern which duke it out with the maple tree roots. I don't take pics of them, because they're not Hosta. Although, that pic of the maidenhair fern makes me wonder. I found a pic of my Autumn fern in August as the colors are just beginning to change (I cropped it out of a Hosta pic)
