True bloom Roses

if anyone is growing them how have they done so far? I bought true inspiration and so far I like the fragrance it has and the bloom form on it blends well with my OGRs and Austins. I also saw true Integrity at a lowes and It looks like a good rose as well. True integrity looks a bit different in person compared the advertised pictures. It looks like the blooms tend to open flatter. True integrity pictured below

I like Ping Lim's roses so far... The "True" line has a few that look tempting! I like the "without chemicals" part... Except, where my plants grow, the healthier the roses are, the more pests they attract! So even though I try to choose organic sprays, something will be sprayed, count on it.

The True Delight rose looks fantastic, a there arent many stripy roses that can forgo the full spray treatment. I can’t find it listed for sale anywhere though, maybe it hasnt been introduced yet?

@windowsill_gardener - True Perfume ended up being mislabeled :( I agree - True Spirit looks great and I’m hoping to find it available soon. Maybe we’ll see these new varieties available next spring.

Afew years later…. I am pretty late to the Peter Ping Lim True Blooms Party…. LOL! Love all your photos & comments! Thank you! Gorgeous photos everyone! Lately I see Ping Lim roses coming up on another thread, today with Kristine’s new rose. True Blooms sound great for disease resistance!!

Kitty, sorry to report that True Inspiration was a poor repeater with weak necks for me, after further evaluation. Mine has joined the Rosy Rainbow Bridge, but hope others’ have fared better.

I’d really like to find True Friendship. I am always looking for yellow roses that can handle my blackspot pressure.

I’m curious if anyone on this forum has tried True Spirit? It looks to me to be a larger version of True Love, both in bush and bloom size. I bought it as a bare root this spring and it’s growing nicely. I also bought True Sincerety at the same time and both have the most beautiful bronze/ green new growth. Any experience with either of these? Photos in your garden?

  • last year

I have True Spirit. Last year was my first year with it, but it was the only new rose that never bloomed.

  • last year

Ben, sorry about your loss, but your Rosy Rainbow Bridge had me cackling. Diane

    Ben,

Your T Inspiration came with a ton of blooms. Possibly because it’s own root it take over a year to mature into regular blooms. I hope!

I see a lot of beautiful blooms above! I see Oliver still loved his True inspiration blooms! I hope I get some blooming beauties!

    😊🥀❤️

Markay I found True Friendship and True Joy as bare root plants at Lowe's this Jan. Both are yellow. True Joy is supposed to be fragrant. I hope those two come to a Lowe's near you soon.

Is anyone else having problems with muslabeled True Bloom roses? I purchased two more True Perfume roses hoping that at least one would be correct - one from Home Depot and a large potted plant from Lowes. Both of these were also incorrect - one being True Inspiration (pepper fragrance) and the other was True Friendship. I really want to grow this rose but after 3 attempts I’m not sure I’ll ever receive the right one.

”Rose rainbow bridge” made me laugh too. It’s more refined than the farmer term of ”dead pile” that I use :)

I noticed some new True Bloom varieties listed on Prides Corner website today. I’m especially interested in True Kindness and True Endearment.

Thanks for sharing your experience with True Spirit, Markay. Not good news, is it? I guess I’ll hang on and hope for a better experience here.

  • last year

Dave, yes, i have purchased three, two of which were mislabeled. I would only buy the True Bloom plants if they are… truly in bloom 😂, as Altman plants are having a hard time with labeling. I bought one at Home Depot in person, mislabeled and bought one online, mislabeled and finallt found the one I wanted in person in bloom. Now I’m done! lol

  • last year

Oof I bought 4 True Bloom roses this year: True Perfume and True Spirit as bare roots at Lowe's, and True Gratitude and True Bliss directly from Altman via Walmart. Let's take bets on what percentage is correctly labeled lol.

  • last year

    SD, Echo, Judy, Dave,

Hope to see your True Blooms this season! Waiting for your gorgeous photograohy! Which will be the favorites?

  • last year

I went to my local Walmart today & found bare root True roses, I believe under $12. All from Bloomables in body bags. They also had a few other usual varieties like Double Delight etc. Not going to buy any body bags from WM again after too many mislabeled roses (I've never bought Bloomables from there though).

  • last year

Soozie Q true broke is what I would be if I could plant shop today. Cabin fever is getting to me and I'm so starved for flowers. It's hard to make rational decisions at the store in the heat of temptation so I'll stay out of trouble and bake some blueberry muffins .

  • last year

Joke's on me y'all. I don't know why I didn't check when I unpacked my roses, but NEITHER of them are labeled. At all. Not the box they came in, the paper they were wrapped in, no tags, nada. Zilch. I'll have to wait until they bloom to label them. What are they thinking over there??

  • last year

SD Shine, I just watched a video that Rose Geek posted yesterday, and the same thing happened to her. She ordered something like eight True Bloom roses from Walmart and all were unlabeled, though True Love had a pot with the name on it.

  • last year

I saw Rose Geek's video also. Yikes not a single label!

Peachy, blueberry muffins sound really good right now. Believe me it beats shopping for body bag roses @ WM. I bought 4 a few years ago, every one was mislabeled. Nope never again. The bareroots in those coffins @ Lowe's & HD are such an improvement.

  • last year

Mine also were not labeled!! lol how on earth ….

  • last year

That is beyond annoying. Are you all going to keep them or return them?

This just happened to me yesterday with a rose.

I don't have any red roses in my garden. So you can imagine the shock I had when my 4 year old rose bloomed its first bloom. I hope it stays this dark red.

  • last year

Im gonna keep them but maybe email and mention this . i am glad im not the only one but it sure is funny they did that !

thats a beautiful red z10socal !! i also dont grow reds but i bought florentina and i want tiamo too . i guess they sre growing on me !

any guesses who it could be ?!

  • last year

Jen, I have no clue since I never have ordered red roses. What do you think it is?

  • last year

Im gonna take guesses but first where did you get it ? what rose is it supposed to be?

i dont know red roses very well but im gonna google

  • last year

4 years ?!! i just re read that . you are SO patient ! haha

im not sure if you order any of these roses

  • last year

I have been looking at my emails and cant figure out who I got it from. I think it was supposed to be Evelyn from Burlington. How do you get roses to grow faster? They come so tiny from her and Rouge Valley Roses.

  • last year
    last modified: last year

SoCal, do pot up the tiny ones and use Osmocote Plus and they will size up quickly.

  • last year
    last modified: last year

Sheila is right. I used Osmocote Plus 6 month feed on my inground roses for the first time last growing season, 2024, and nothing else, except my yearly winter application of poultry manure (pigeon), placed in late fall/early winter. The poultry manure gives a lavish spring bloom, but doesn't last the season. That's where the Osmocote comes in.

I never had such vigorous, steady growth and abundant blooming, ever before, all season long. Watering was kept up regardless of high temps and rainfall shortages. The roses never suffered a water insufficiency. If my memory serves me, I applied the Osmocote right after spring pruning, about late April.

I highly recommend Osmocote Plus 6 month feed, for the easiest, most effective fertilizer for roses that can be imagined. Osmocote is pricey, but worth every cent. If I didn't have the poultry manure (pigeon loft) available and used Osmocote as my only fertilizer applied at pruning time, the only difference I believe there would be is a smaller bloom and leaf size for the spring flush. This no saying smaller than normal, just that the manure makes for an enormous leaf and flower in spring, and normal size thereafter, the rest of the season.

Hope what I have shared helps.

    Moses.

  • last year

Okay will do, I just purchased three different types of fertilizer. Neptune fish, a acidic one and Maxsea.

Thanks Sheila and Moses for the tip.

Just wanted to share a pic of my True sincerity in it it’s 3rd year. It is luminous.

  • last year

Markay - those ARE luminous!! Utterly gorgeous blooms!! Oh my!!

  • last year

I just bought a 'True Sincerity' the other day...it is a beautiful rose! I am planting it near 'Chicago Peace' and 'Love and Peace' for a very colorful corner of my garden!

My first True Gratitude bloom, the fragrance is wonderful

    Markay,

How glad I am that I was inspired by your photo from last year to get a True Sincerity then. It has exceeded my expectations. Thank you for posting that photo, and this season's photo also.......remarkable presence for a shrub rose!

It's got everything: beautiful bloom, great vigor (watch the innumerable thorns, though!), great winter survival, and no black spot so far, although I hit True Sincerity with both insecticide and fungicide mixed together, when spraying for rose midge. Since I am regularly spraying for rose midge, I put a fungicide in the spray just to help my slightly prone to back spot roses along a bit.

    Thanks again!

    Moses

@Moses, Pitt PA, cold W & hot-humid S, z6, I’m glad it is doing so well for you! I am really liking True Serenity too, even though it annoys me how confusingly similar the names are!!

  • last year

Marrrrrkay, i just saw these at Lowe's and was most impressed with True Sincerity. What a gorgeous fragrance which isn't surprising with FD AKA Barcelona for one parent. I'm considering it and I need more roses like a hole in the head. The deep reddddd True Pride was also very pretty. I wonder if the have a typical Hybrid Tea growth habit.

I also agree with the confusing names. I really dislike these series where the name has little to do with the rose.... even Ch-Ching evokes a yellow rose.

  • last year

Rosylady - what a great photo of a beautiful rose!! :)

    SDshine - I love that deep pink...gorgeous!

    Markay - mmmmm :)

Did all of you who ordered True Bloom roses online from Walmart, Amazon, etc get whst you ordered? For the 4th time (yes, I shouldn’t have expected anything different), I received the wrong rose. I received a nice plant but the tag was just thown in the box - nothing attached to the plant. Over 2 months later when it bloomed I found it was two plants and two different roses but not True Perfume. Any thoughts on what varieties they are? Thankfully Altman Plants answered my email this time and has shipped a replacement.

The dark pink one bloomed first and has little to no fragrance. The pale apricot/yellow variety has a medium fragrance that I can’t describe. My last not-True Perfume rose ended up being True Inspiration but this pink one is different.

  • last year

My favorite is True Confusion. It describes the whole collection.

  • last year

I can’t help you but they are both gorgeous, I hope you have the room to keep them.

(I will be following this to find out what they are myself to possibly order them in the future)

  • last year

LOL, hugogirl. That apricot one is so pretty. It doesn't really match up with anything in the current lineup of True Bloom roses. I wonder if you ended up with a future True Bloom release or something that's not a True Bloom at all.

  • last year

    Hugogurll you nailed it 🎯

  • last year

Ive said it before and i’ll say it again, ive bought two, one in store and one online that were mislabeled - I wouldn’t plant a True Bloom rose unless you see it..truly blooming.

    they are beautiful though

  • last year

I agree, hulogurll and Echo! It’s too bad since Ping Lim’s roses are fantastic. @windowsill_gardener - yes, I wonder if it coud be a future release. I really like the apricot one. The pink one is nice too but wish it were more fragrant but maybe with time. I’ll likely tease both plants apart soon and evaluate them separately.

  • last year

Dave, I'm sure I'm totally wrong, but your lovely yellow/apricot rose looks a lot like the Georgia Peach rose shown by Kitty just above near the bottom of the seasonal thread. Check it out. Diane

My lowes here a bunch of the true bloom roses this year. I picked 2 true friendship 2 true passion 1 more true love (already had one) 1 true sincerity 1 true perfume. I may go back and get true serenity and true spirit. I am waiting for blooms to open before I plant them, so far they have been correct. I also grabbed two coral drift roses which I haven't tried yet

In my prior post I meant to write serenity Not sincerity. These are truly confusing names especially these 2

That is confusing, I picked up Both, hoping they do well.
