Who could resist a $3.00 hosta? I am cautious about big box stores, but the only HVX plant I've had was a Gold Edger bought way back when HVX was a new thing.

Steve, I think your property is a lot larger than mine. So I have to show more restraint. If I had more property, and if there were better sources for hostas here, I doubt you would see such restraint.

I have had hostas for 20 years. My first one was a division from my great-grandmother's yard in Indiana. Then I purchased several varieties from the finest garden center: Kmart! My real "collecting" named varieties didn't really begin until 2014 when I purchased Great Expectations. Relatively speaking, I am probably considered a total noob.

Lowe's here had 2 Guacamole..also $3..I passed in favor of 2 coleus..also $3..

Please tell me you passed on Guacamole because you already have Guacamole.

I tried growing Hosta in southern California 17 years ago. Just moved into Hosta country summer of 2015. I think I'm just making up for lost time. We only have a half acre with some sunny terraces, so we might need a bigger boat.

I have some unidentified ones (came with the house) that look so much like Guacamole that if they're not they're close enough haha..now I'm trying to be more particular..you've made up for lost time with lightning speed!..

I passed up Guacamole because yes, I already have one. Don_in_colorado gave me a nice big division a couple years ago and it's already HUGE.

You have a half acre? OMG! I am so envious. My lot is very small. I really wish I had purchased a house with a larger lot when I bought this house. Now they are completely not affordable unless I move out of state which I probably will not. I'll just have to live vicariously through you all.

Small lot for me too, but I have filled every shady spot with hostas. Now——popmama, you said Lowe’s right? Maybe when the rain stops (yes it’s raining again) I will make a little hosta run. :-)

There is a local nursery near me that has a good clearance sale on hostas. I'm waitinf for it and hope i can show some of your restraint.
