I don’t have a great picture of the tiles I have in my large foyer, hallway, and powder room, but this one kind of shows it, they’re a dark charcoal stone look porcelain tile with charcoal colored grout. I also live in the Midwest. I love these floors! There used to be shiny, white tiles in the foyer, I hated those because they were slippery and showed everything, and the white grout always looked dirty. My dark matte tiles don’t tend to show very much and usually look cleaner than they might really be. LOL! Now, I don’t have any animals... light haired, shedding dogs or cats would probably be a problem, but my oldest daughter is extremely allergic to almost all animals so we don’t have any. I do have an area rug right inside the front door, and a large mat outside of the front door, and those DO help, the only issue is when my sons come through and don’t remove their shoes before they step off the area rug when there is snow on them. Mud would show too, but we don’t have a muddy yard or live on a farm or anything. Snow tracked through has been the only thing that has me mopping the floor more often than usual, but it doesn’t show any worse on the dark tile than it does if they walk on my shiny wood floors... hope that helps!
