Nancy - LOL I did take a lot of mushies off No Boys. Maybe I should have left them on so that photo wouldn't torture you so much. I think most people prefer the look of No Boys because there is greater contrast between the watermark color and the petal color. I do know people will pay a lot more for No Boys. I've sold both No Boys and Sweet Child on the Lily Auction, and there are always way more bids for No Boys. I just think Sweet Child is a great performing plant, and I like to toot its horn. Note all the buds at the bottom of the photo.

No Boys Allowed seems to have more consistent and flatter opening. Both seem good garden plants. Color contrast seems sharper on No Boys Allowed.

Nice post of striking lilies. Your glamour shot is especially pretty and shows why people buy certain flowers when they look like that! Boundless Beauty looks as though all it has are perfect blooms! Your pink seedling is very nice but Leonard is still looking strong!!

It is the watermarks that I like about NBA, that extra contrast, but i think now if i add one it will be Sweet Child.

Weatherman was saying at 6:00 news, 1st day we have had no rain in 10 days. 2 hours later we have nasty storm with hail that lasted about 15 minutes. Been storming about an hour and half now! Hope the hail did not mess up my plants. Not big hail, it just seemed to go on. Maybe tomorrow we will have no rain

Mantis - I do agree about the color contrast on No Boys. Do you grow both? They seem to open equally flat to me. I took the photo of Sweet Child about an hour an a half before I took the pic of No Boys. By 10 o'clock they are both open to the same degree of flatness. Sweet Child is a bit taller and in the middle on the Circle Bed, so I couldn't get as close an angle on it as I could No Boys.

I think both of them are pretty in their own way. I would go for Sweet child since it has the better bud count. White Eyes...looks similar. How does it compare? I do like Leonard.

Brad - White Eyes is a great multiplier and rebloomer. I haven't got many buds on it so far. I do have have six fans in three seasons. The best scape has 11 buds. Most have 7-9. I just got it in the ground last fall, and it was in an area that received no supplemental watering during the dry spell. It seems like some of the scapes had 13-14 buds during the two years I grew it in a pot. Both Sweet Child and No Boys got a bit of supplemental watering the third and fourth weeks in May

Both No Boys Allowed and Sweet Child Of Mine are pretty. For the overall visual appeal, for me, I am with No Boys Allowed. Sweet Child Of Mine has an ordinary look. Boundless Beauty clump pic is great.

Beautiful post which I must have missed and am very glad to see. I can't decide if I like Sweet Child of Mine and My Mama Thinks I'm a Star group better or No Boys Allowed. They are both so pretty! I really like Feathered Fingers and North Winds curly Joe is really pretty.. You can't go wrong with WEPD and Leonard is looking great. Beautiful Post, Debra!

Okay, I grow neither No Boys or Sweet Child, but have ordered No Boys. You have posted it about 6 times this year, so it must have some appeal.

Mantis - I have only posted No Boys three times, and previously it was in group shots with Entwined and Sugar Magnola. Kay also posted it a couple of times. It does have visual appeal - no argument there. I just wish it would either get more than nine buds, or set more seed.

In cool temperatures, Sweet Chile has more contrast. Here's a photo from two years ago after a night in the low 60s. I seldom see it looking like this because our normal midseason night temps are in the 70s.

Well , I only stumbled across this post, another one I missed somehow . When the posts are fast and furious it is sometimes hard to keep up .

Until I ready your post Debra, looking at the first picture I was thinking , WOW what a huge and glorious clump of Sweet Child of Mine I did not realize nor did my brain compute that there were two separate plants at first . They must be quite similar in looks?

The only real difference I see in Sweet Child of Mine and No Boys allowed is the watermark ....it appears larger on No Boys Allowed . However if bud count is important then I would choose Sweet Child of Mine cuz let's face it , no one is buying a daylily for it's leaves.

However , I myself have bought daylilies that have fewer buds for the look of the face of the bloom or that the plant increases like gang busters so a smaller bud count is acceptable and unnoticed because of the volume of scapes on the plant . . Sometimes it is worth it to me to buy the lesser bud count plant . The only other issue for me would be whether the plant is an EV, Sev , or Dormant . I would always choose the dormant plant just due to my location . Where plants are so similar in looks I would normally pick the one with the higher bud count of course.

Scrolling through the post , I stopped dead at Feathered Fingers , now that is a plant with an eye that I would have no problem choosing . So many eyed daylilies look the same so unless it is spectacular I keep walking . I much prefer a daylily without an eye if it is just the same old same old ring around the bloom . There has to be something to grab me. Feathered Fingers just did that .

Leonard is a show stopper !

Heather - Both Sweet Child and No Boys are semi-evergreens and multiply very well. Sweet Child tends to clump up a bit faster than No Boys. Feathered Fingers does have a different look with a special color and eye.
