Trying to decide between three smooth-top ranges - help please!

I'm trying to decide on a new range. Just a glasstop, smooth-top, whatever-you-call-it, with a convection oven. (Can't have gas or induction.) Stainless steel - bonus points for fingerprint resistant. 30".

This Maytag has good reviews, except for a number of people complaining about the silver paint peeling around the controls - which def worries me! (It's $1500 CAD on sale.) https://www.maytag.ca/en_ca/kitchen/cooking/ranges/single-oven-freestanding/p.30-inch-wide-electric-range-with-true-convection-and-power-preheat-6.4-cu.-ft.ymes8800fz.html

This Whirlpool also gets good reviews, except for a number of people complaining that the touch controls are crazy sensitive - like a drop of water can affect the controls: https://www.leons.ca/products/whirlpool-stainless-steel-slide-in-electric-true-convection-range-64-cu-ft-yweea25h0hz?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4Ompk_uK4wIVmeDICh1wkgINEAYYASABEgIiKfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

I can't find many reviews at all for this GE: https://www.homedepot.ca/product/ge-30-inch-5-3-cu-ft-single-oven-electric-range-with-self-cleaning-convection-oven-in-stainless-steel/1001118852

This one is on sale for $2k, the top of our budget. I like that it has a bridge element and has a choice between steam clean or self-clean - the other models only have the steam type clean. But I've heard mixed reviews of GE ranges. I was looking at a lower level one and it had a lot of reviews about how the temperature fluctuates a lot.

I don't care about having a baking or warming drawer, or wifi.

Would love to hear any thoughts, opinions, experiences with these specific models and so on! :) Thanks!

Of course you can have induction! It's requirements are no different than for a standard electric range. It performs 500% better than a standard electric range, and you'd have much more control and better results by investigating induction ranges. The Frigidaire series is a pretty great buy.

Sorry, I should have clarified. We won't use induction because one of my kids has an insulin pump and there are warnings about mixing the two. It might be cover-your-ass warnings, but we won't take the risk. And yes the kid (teen) does cook and will be using the stove and no he can't take his pump off when cooking. So no induction for us!

You're reading unknowledgeable alarmist hippy dippy sites. There is zero risk to any modern medical equipment. 15 year old stuff? Maybe. If you lay on it.

Can’t suggest anything related to a non-induction electric range - wouldn’t have one.

No, I am not. I'm taking advice from the insulin pump manufacturers and national diabetes research organizations.

Thanks Inga! Yes, I've read the steam option isn't great - nice that the GE has a full-on self- clean option!

I loved my GE Smoothtop electric stove. It was functional, cooked/baked well, and I never had to do any repairs. Got rid of it only because I was remodeling and it was the wrong color

    "electromagnetic and electrostatic interference

Your Animas® VibeTM Insulin Pump has been designed to operate in the presence of common sources of electrostatic and electromagnetic interference, such as store security systems. However, your pump should not be exposed to very strong electromagnetic fields, such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), RF welders, magnets used to lift automobiles, and some “free-fall” amusement park rides. Very strong magnetic fields, such as in an MRI, can damage the System."

Thanks Sue! I'm leaning towards the GE at the moment. It has more features I want, though also features I won't use - but I guess until we can order custom appliances that's just the way it goes! :)

The LG LSE4613ST smoothtop range is recommended by Consumer Reports and appears to be similar to this LG LSE4611ST sold by Home Depot in Canada (CA$1500).

Thanks wdccruise - will check it out!

Check out Bosch. I had a Bosch electric cooktop in my condo and was quite happy with it. I also had a Bosch 800 series oven.

I liked my Bosch so much that I went with a Bosch 500 oven this time (I don't use the oven nearly enough to justify the 800), and a Bosch 800 induction cooktop.

At about C$3250, Bosch ranges exceed her price limit in Canada.

Thanks cpartist! I saw a Bosch the other day in the store which was lovely, but out of my price range, like wdccruise mentioned. And I'm actually trying to stick to my price range on this, lol, since so many other things are going over!! :)
