I would put on some rubber gloves, Paint the leaves with Roundup top and bottom. This will starve the plant and kill it starving it from the root up. Use the poison ivy concentration and it will die off quickly. I have done this with 3 'throw away' hostas with 3 different concentrations and each died. The stronger the concentration the quicker the process. They did not come back. HVX only survives on live tissue. This way there is no contamination of tools. There is no problem planting more hosta even. Those that say you can't kill hosta this way have only sprayed them or have never tried it. If you don't like this then bleach will work to clean the tools and so will Dawn anti-bacterial dishwashing liquid. Be aware that HVX can live for years and it could contaminate a new hosta if you plant it in the same place.
