I'm thinking of adding some woods, metals, etc. Maybe some sort of colors. Any ideas would be very helpful

I'm thinking the problem is the darker wall color, not the white cabinets. The darker wall color increases the contrast between the walls and the cabinets, in addition to the the dark countertops and the stainless steel appliances. And painting the island darker, and adding dark pendant lights and bronze hardware will only deepen the contrast if you keep the current wall color.

wall color is getting painted lighter tomorrow! it's like 2 shades lighter

I would add a backsplash that will help alot & agree with the paint color. I have a similar kitchen.
