Help with glass back-splash grout color

last modified: 7 years ago

My sister is renovating her kitchen - she is working with a local kitchen design firm and the designer is somewhat unresponsive to the problems that have arisen during the renovation. The designer calls the contractor, but never follows up. My sister is frustrated beyond belief.

The most recent issue is the back-splash installer used the wrong grout color. He used Laticrete sterling silver (#78) instead of silver shadow (#88). It looks awful. The grey is very dominant and overwhelms the tile. My sister loved the look of the tile prior to grouting.

The kitchen designer contacted the contractor and they are going to remove the grout and re-grout. After seeing the wrong grout overwhelm the delicate tile, my sister is worried the original grout chosen by the KD may not be the right grout either. She is trying to achieve a subtle and elegant look. (She is also worried whether they will be able to effectively remove the grout)

Cabinets: antique White shaker

Counter: Azul platino granite

Floor: Off white porcelain with slight grey marble coloring and smoke grey grout.

Backsplash :

What grout would you recommend?

Silver shadow (the grout sample matches the skylight tile) or would you use a translucent or clear grout? Or something else altogether?

Grout: #88 silver shadow

Thanks for any assistance you can provide.
